There is an attempt to get Volte working on samsung using open source ims implementation

That would be excellent news!
So: This feature is available in ronnz98’s unofficial builds. It is not available in official builds or other unofficial builds.
@ronnz98 @rik @Antoine @vince31fr Is is possible to implement this feature for all other iodéOS-Samsung-Devices?
@vince31fr is testing it on an officially supported Samsung device.
Thanks for your answer !
Unfortunately, this won’t help me because I don’t even know what it means when it says “you can try this build”. ![]()
I know how to turn my phone on and off but nothing more. Well, that’s not quite right but you see the point ![]()
A beta has been released for the Samsung S10 series with VoLTE support. Here is Vincent’s comment:
Another main change only concerns Samsung S10 series, which now embeds the free IMS implementation from phh, allowing volte and vowifi to (hopefully) work out of the box. It is not perfect, but should be reliable enough
Other officially supported Samsung device beta releases do not have that integrated (yet?). I suspect he would like more thorough testing first.
I’d be interested to know how it is integrated / embedded. It could be useful for los4microG ![]()
@rik Thanks for checking with iodé.tech lead developer.
@ronnz98 has not only implemented VoLTE/VoWiFi (Wi-Fi-Calling) in ROM build (A16) iode-7.5-20260607-a21s, but also Galaxy S9 (starlte), Galaxy S9+ (star2lte), Galaxy Note9 (crownlte). In addition, ROM /e/OS 4.0 A16 is also available for these three builds.
I didn’t write that at all. As you can see in form of a quote, ronnz was responding to a inquiry about whether there is an unofficial build for the Samsung Galaxy A21s. And in doing so, he simply noted that his builds now support VoLTE/VoWiFi (by integrating the tinkering of phh, who no longer builds his Trebble builds at all). I simply wrote that VoLTE and VoWiFi are only available in ronnz’s unofficial builds. At that point, I didn’t know that iodé was also working on support for the official builds (and is currently testing this in the beta).
Yes. That would be cool.
OK I got come clarification: @vince31fr is using https://github.com/krazey/ims as the base for the IMS reimplementation.
As it is only for a few series, and only officially for A16 / LOS 23.x (thus iodéOS 7.x), it means it will only be made available for the S10 series (including Note 10) devices to start (v7.7 - currently in beta). Later, S9 series (v4.x) and other devices with v7.x will be added, if all goes well in the next development cycle. As the older “A series” devices are v2.x they may not be possible. A52 is v6.x not certain about that one, I guess we wait an see.
Of course any unofficial builds would need their maintainers to implement, as @ronnz98 is already doing for his.
Thanks, passed to Vincent.
thank the gods and iode team,
as an s10e user,
i’ll buy iode lifetime premium,
build you guys temples,
and make human sacrifice to Lord Huitzilopochtli & Lord Tezcatlipoca.
I don’t see any issues reported on the beta testing Matrix / Telegram channel so this should be cleared to be released with v7.7 which should be coming shortly for all the S10 / Note 10 series devices.
tested S10e with a sim card which requires VoLTE to connect, no 2G & 3G,
in older version of iode OS, that sim card (even data) doesn’t connect at all;
in v7.7, an error message appears (i wasn’t fast enough to screenshot it),
now sim card connects & data can be used,
but calls (incl voicemail) are not working yet, just silence.
it great to see something starts working ![]()
Is there any chance of VoLTE fix being backported to S9+? That would be so cool..
