Galaxy S9 VoLTE Compatibility Status

I’ve been a big fan of iodeOS for some time now, ever since 1.0 up until 4.14 which I have now… and today I received an SMS from my provider saying that from 28 October I won’t be able to make any voice calls due to the infamous “No VoLTE on Samsung custom ROMs” issue.

So it appears that my options now are:

  • to restore the stock ROM (which would suck)
  • get a non-Samsung phone that supports iodeOS
  • or to beg the iodeOS developers to implement a fix like the one mentioned here or here.

So I’m really hoping the masterminds at iode HQ has a viable workaround, or will have one before Oct 28

Hi
There is no more activity for the links you mention. I also watched with interest that thread (for S9+). Samsung S phones are really good and it’s a pity there is no VoLTE for them.
At least there is VoLTE in original ROM as opposed to some Sonys that lack it completely.
I don’t think iode develoers could do anything about it so you should start looking for another phone.
Good luck!

Thanks for the reply.

Which phone did you end up getting, a Sony?

And I have a feeling the iode developers might be able to do something considering that a workaround have been done for the A21s from the links above.

Hi.
I have many phones and most of them don’t support VoLTE. My carrier has 2G support for a long time so I’m in no hurry to move to another one.

I’ll be really glad if they can pull it off, but chances are VERY slim.
I wrote in the topic with A21 so I receive updates but there was no further news from quite some time:

I ended up installing FloydROM in order to get VoLTE working on the S9.

It’s a shame to leave iodeOS after so many great years but it’s something that had to be done :frowning:

To iodeOS developers - it’s been an absolute pleasure using your software and thanks for all the amazing work you’ve all done over the years. Hopefully one day I’ll come back with a non-Samsung device.

Peace!

Hi. I’m glad you found a solution. Please let me know how it goes with FloydROM, if you’re satisfied and how it is compared to original ROM.
