Hi,
after updating my Fairphone 4 from IODE 7.4 to 7.5 via the updater, Android cannot start anymore. Is there a way to start it again without a factory reset and losing all data?
Any help is very appreciated!
Thanks
Try to restart it several times, it should trigger a switch back to the previous version.
Thanks. I tried it several times already. Can the switchback to 7.4 be triggered manually?
I just tried it one more time (in total approx. 5 times), and now it started with 7.4 again!
I did take a look at the upgrade procedure fo unlocked bootloader here:
My FP4 fairphone4 says “Your device has loaded a different operating system” on boot, as I have an unlocked bootloader (I remember not locking it).
I updated directly from 6.14 → 7.5 as described in:
I still did run into the “Reason: init_user0_failed” after updating to 7.5.
I tried to switch the “active slot: a” to “b”.
Entered fastboot, run `fastboot devices` on my laptop, which did not show a device
Then after a few reboots it switched to “active slot: b” but still failed, and with the following boot it worked fine and booted back to 6.14
Any advice? Does this mean that my bootloader is locked? In fastboot I saw “secure boot: yes”..
Interesting, entering Recovery (holding volume down during (re)boot) shows:
SECURE BOOT - yes
DEVICE STATE - locked
So my assumption that my system is unlocked was wrong. Great that I could recover to the previous version.
Then I’ll do the fresh upgrade in the future.
Just for others that are still stuck I am linking to a new thread to consolidate the current status and issues:
