Issue

Additional Information:

I’ve noticed three things:

1. When the phone has been turned off and you turn it back on, it restarts immediately after you enter the PIN. After that, it works fine.

2. It displays all uninstalled apps, both in the menu and in the app settings.

3. Quick Settings—enabled, Unlock required for sensitive Quick Settings—enabled: I can turn on Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and mobile data without unlocking the phone. However, I can’t turn on NFC, Airplane Mode, or Location. Actually, shouldn’t only the flashlight work? Aren’t all the others considered sensitive? On the Fairphone 4 (iOS 6.9), it works as it should.

For 1 and 3, can you please clarify if this was a new install, and if so what previous system was on the phone?

For 2, the “Preinstalled Apps” that are removed showing with their terse “app id” (com.android... etc) is an issue that seems to be with the Fairphone 5 only, you are not alone (but it isn’t yet reliably reproducible). Still trying to sort this out, here are a few threads (there are others):

Re 1 & 3: I installed Iode 7.7 directly from stock Android 15 (fresh out of the box) using the installer. Later, I updated to 7.8 via the updater.

Re 2: After updating to 7.8, the “pre-installed apps” weren’t visible at first—they only appeared after another reboot. By the way, I don’t use F-Droid or IoDroid; I use Droidi-fy and Aurora instead.

For some reason, the Fairphone 4 works better with Iode than the Fairphone 5.

Every time the same at my FP5.

Then, i install them again, reboot, uninstall them, reboot. they gone till next update.

Then - same procedure than last update.

Good news! Our lead developer has recreated the issue and that allowed him to better identify (and fix) the problems with “Preinstalled Apps”.

It had to do a race condition / contingency issue between 2 system services getting started out of expected order in some cases (strangely common for the FP5 as noted but it technically could have happened on any device). The fix will be part of the next builds, 7.9 / 6.19.

The two issues with the apps and the restart have been fixed. Thanks.
However, the problem with the Quick Launch bar still persists.
