Hello
I have a serious problem with my installation of IodeOs 6.4 on FP5 : I had toubles with Aurora (I saw another post about it). Since I also had troubles with the call app, and message app, I decided to uninstall and reinstall them with preinstalled apps (just rebooting). But they can be uninstalled, but not reinstall…
Then I saw a new beta version is coming, so I decided to unistall updater to install beta updater from github page. I hopped it could help : I could uninstall but not install anything…
It is maybe a matter of developper option : following some tutos and post about installing whatsapp on a custom rom, I changed some developper option, but I think I had reset them as they were
Would you please give me some help, since the main apps of my phone are no longer available…
Hello
I would like to specify that I cannot install fdroid from the apk downloafed from web. Nor any apk probably
Thank you in advance for your help,
Thomas
Actually the problem is not that I cannot reinstall preinstalled apps (the camera in this case) but that other camera apps are not recognized by the message app, nor by any app that need to access a camera
Thanks again
Maybe with need to wait for next release
I dont see any solution
Or, is there any way to install preinstalled apps (and make them recognize bu other apps) via ADB ?
Is there a solution for reinstalling preinstalled apps on an FP5. I cannot reinstall any preinstalled apps on FP5 with iode OS 7.1. Neither via the setting menue nor via f-droid store. Restarting the phone is not helping. F-droid seems to install the app (iode browser), but when finished just shows the install button again. Any solution?
Yes, I did try it multiple times and different combinations with or without install from f-droid. I did always reboot after a change.
Interestingly I can see the browser in setting/apps when I install from f-droid, but there is no way to start it. It also does not show up in thee the launcher.
Yes, that is a symptom of “Preinstalled Apps” getting confused. I still am learning on this, but when a “Preinstalled App” is removed, basically a “stub” is kept (you can find the app still under “All Apps > System apps”) but the actual app is gone (and there is nothing in the app menu). This is needed because as the app is part of the system image, if you just simply removed the app it would be restored when a system update is applied. So an empty placeholder identifying itself as the app somewhat prevents this. What I don’t know exactly is if after a new system update is applied if the “first run” then re-removes the app or if it is don’t a bit differently.
So in the case you are facing, it does seem that “Preinstalled Apps” thinks the app is removed (preventing its display, preventing it from being “installed”) even though it isn’t. That is why I suggested to “yet again” using Preinstalled Apps to “remove / install” with a reboot each time.
I did work with others that got in this situation some time back and could re-create their issue but we couldn’t “get out of it” without a “Factory Reset”. Since then I was sure the devs had implemented some fixes as they did finally re-create the issue. But you are showing there may still be a lingering bug here.
As a “last resort” you may need to use Seedvault to backup data, reset, then restore. Not a very good solution, I know!
It seems, I have the same problem. I installed the pdf-viewer, but the files still open with the browser. There is no choice to chose the viewer. The phone prefers the iode browser, asks “ Andere Anwendung starten” with the choice between, Browser, Amaze Document viewer and Librera FD
I will retest some Preinstalled App / Uninstall then upgrade etc. jostling around and see if I can get to a broken state with them. Certainly there are some complaints about this the past few weeks after we thought these issues were all solved around 4-5 months back.
I have the same problem as described in the posts above. On my FP5 running Iodé 7.2, it affects the fossify messenger. I became aware of this problem when I was no longer able to send or receive text messages.
So you had removed the app previously with “Preinstalled Apps”, but now can’t add it back (or more correctly, when you added it back from “Preinstalled Apps” it still isn’t functioning correctly)? Or other?
