Unofficial build for Sony Xperia ZX1 Compact (lilac)

It shouldn’t do: the changed file will probably be overwritten by the dirty flash, as it lives in the vendor partition.

There is no ETA for the next release of the upstream code for this ROM. Experience suggests it could be a month or two, and there wont be new IodéOS or los4microG builds until that happens

If I can share my experience with this device and custom ROM, I’d say that I had a few times this battery behavior with new builds. When this happen I do a complete discharge (until the phone shut down itself) and then a complete charge (until 100%) sometimes it takes a few days but in the end, for the moment anyway, it always came back to normal behavior (≈40% in 24 hours for me).
I also turn off my phone every night maybe it does something I don’t know.

Hi @petefoth , is this the new location of iodé builds for XZ1C? pf-custom-roms - Browse /lilac/iode-os at SourceForge.net

If yes, what is the difference between iode-5.1-20240617-UNOFFICIAL-lilac-img.zip and iode-5.1-20240617-lilac.zip, both can be found there. If one is unofficial the other is ?

Yes

iode-5.1-20240617-UNOFFICIAL-lilac-img.zip is for flashing with fastboot (e.g. fastboot --skip-reboot update iode-5.1-20240617-UNOFFICIAL-lilac-img.zip)
iode-5.1-20240617-lilac.zip is for flashing with recovery (e.g. adb sideload iode-5.1-20240617-lilac.zip

The difference in naming is due to a bug in the docker image I use for building, that I haven’t had time to fix yet. This ROM is unofficial, whichever .zip file you use to install it

SOLVED! I wiped cache in TWRP and then reinstalled the same, latest build, and call audio returned in the earspeaker.

Thanks, I got it. How to update this custom ROM? The installed updater will work or I have to download the new rom zip and dirty flash it from TWRP? If dirty flashing, is there a suggested procedure to follow?

The updater won’t work: you will need to download it and flash it using TWRP.

Either copy it to SD card and use TWRP Install functionality, or put TWRP in sideload mode and use adb sideload

Hi there,

I had a problem this morning with my sony xperia xz1 compact.
When I turned it on, it ask me for my PIN code, and then, there was a white screen and nothing else. I turned it off and on again. It booted but it doesn’t recognize that there is a SIM card. I tried with 2 differents SIM card. Same problem. And the SIM cards work in other phones.
Also when I watch for the IMEI code, it says “unknown”
A guy in a store told me it was a problem with the motherboard and that I could try re-installing from scratch but maybe it would not work anyway.
Do you have any idea if what he said is true ? Did it happen to one of you ? And do you have any idea for fixing this ? Or is my phone dead ?
Thanks a lot

It sounds like a hardware issue to me. One of my XZ1Cs now fails to detect a SIM card, although everything else works fine. ‘Problem with the motherboard’ sounds like a reasonable diagnosis for yours

Thanks a lot.
I was hoping it wasn’t a hardware problem…
Well it seems like the end for me and the xz1 compact. I’m sad…

You could always use the Sony site recovery tool to return it back to its original firmware and software spec’. Only takes a few minutes to run. Might not solve the problem but at least you will be safe in the knowledge either way. The EMMA tool works for unlocked bootloaders, whilst Xperia companion is designed to recover locked bootloaders. Used them myself lots of times on my quest to find the perfect custom ROM. (He said shamelessly )

Only on Windows machines, and I don’t have one of those. I have versions of @Androxyde’s FlashTool app which run on MacOS, and has worked for me to restore stock firmware on Sony devices:

Apologies… should have pointed that out. Only reason I have one myself is because I was given one by the company I worked for so as I could access proprietary software. When I retired they told me I could keep it. Some people get gold watches, others get a pile of junk. Story of my life! It came in handy for something I guess as I now have a library of custom ROM gizmo’s and gadgets that aren’t normally available to linux users short of hoping they will run in WINE or some other emulator.

Thanks for those ideas.
I did a clean install already, didn’t work. I’ll keep searching for solutions, but it doesn’t look good…

Hi Pete,

thank you. I havenot tried yet do manual fixes with adb. So far I was just waiting for your next build.

@Xyguma Also thank you for sharing your experienced with battery consumption in this ROM. I made some charge and discharge cycles now and indeed the battery life seem to have improved now. Quite interesting.

Unfortunately, I have a big problem since this morning. The mobile service totally stopped working. Before, all worked, IMS calls, 4G, 2G.
I booted the phone this morning and the SIM is not detected. On the lock-screen, it says “service not available”. in settings, all network settings usually available are greyed out. I tried all different settings for the modem in Xperia options. The behavior did not change. I also removed the SIM and checked whether at least emergency calls work. Without SIM, there is also no emergency call possible, the log screen just says “service not available”. Also here, I tried all different modem settings in Xperia settings.

I also rebootet several times or even switched off totally and switched on again. Nothing helped.

Can you help me? Like this the phone is not usable as daily driver. :frowning:

Seems like the same sort of problem I have since monday…
Can you go to settings/about the phone/IMEI code and there, do you have numbers or just “unknown” ? (Maybe the path is not exactly that, I translated from french…)

Hi Xyguma,

indeed it seems to be the very same problem! I do not see IMEI anymore, only “unknown”.

It would be a big coincide if our hardware randomly broke at the same time?

Either it is a software issue or this ROM is responsible somehow for a hardware defect?

EDIT: It might be some driver issue? I also notice a stronger battery drain than usually even though the phone is just lying around.

EDIT2: I looked on XDA in the thread of LineageOS 21.0 unofficial ROM (which is the base for this IodeOS ROM as far as I understood) and there are four similar reports:

The ROM (the TWRP-install version) works perfectly for me, no sign of failing.

As I posted previously, I did have that earspeaker-call-audio problem for a while, now fixed, but that was seemingly unrelated to the ROM.
