No wifi on samsung s5e

Hi,

I recently got a used samsung tab s5e wifi with iodéos 6.9 installed.

It’s not possible to use wifi and I’m wondering if this problem is common with this device or if it’s just mine.

As I use the table with a docking station it’s not a big deal but maybe it will be useful some time.

Thanks mar

@mar,

I also have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e, but WiFi works absolutely fine on my side, no problem at all. I’m running iodé 6.10

Could you provide more details, please?

Does it show the accessible WIFI hotspots? Can you choose one? Could it be an issue with the captive portal? (See here)

When I switch on wifi it doesn’t show any networks. Even the scanning animation is not shown.

Found this, maybe you could try that and report back.

Was it from iodé or instead from a 3rd party? Wondering about the install if it was a 3rd party…

I tried everything which doesn’t result in data loss.

it was from iode

It’s just your Tab S5e :red_exclamation_mark: Everything works on my Tab S5e SM-T25 including WLAN/Wi-Fi.

OK, please contact support so they can communicate with you about the issue.

Also, can you clarify your wifi router / access point settings? In case it is just a weak signal can you place it physically close to the AP to check? If you can look at the router wifi settings, is it 5 Ghz only, or 2.4 Ghz also? And what authentication protocol? (wpa2, wpa3, etc.)

Thank you all. I wrote to the support.

While the get back, I asked a few more specific questions above, can you post replies to them here?

Ich tried different routers also with 2.4 GHz but it seems that the tablet not even search for a network. When ich switch on WiFi there is no loading animation and the title says WiFi is off. When I close the popup and open it again WiFi is on but not networks.

On my phone I can see several networks and get a search animation on top of the popup.

@mar, to be on the safe side, I would always do at least a factory reset to delete all third-party files when purchasing a used tablet. Who knows what’s on there?

Be sure to check that Wi-Fi works with stock Android 11.

I recommend completely resetting the tablet, first with stock Android 11 using Odin, then with iodéOS. This will give you a clean, fresh, and secure installation, because you’ll know what has been done with the tablet.

I did a factory reset from the settings menu two weeks ago. Is there a difference to factory reset from the recovery menu.

@mar, a factory reset is a factory reset, regardless of how it is performed.

I assume that your NO WI-FI is not blocked by the iodéOS ROM but by your Tab S5e. Either it is a hardware defect or the Samsung stock firmware is damaged. To narrow down the error, I recommend reinstalling Samsung Stock Android 11 for your region. This is the only way to get a clear result.

Thank you. I’ll not try this until the holiday due to lack of time.

On further inspection I noticed that the software says the device is a t720 (which I also ordered) but on the back it says t725 (which is the LTE version)

Can I use Odin to install the LTE version of 6.10 over the WiFi version without installing Stock Android first? I think they installed the wrong version on this tablet, because the device has a sim card slot
