iodéOS v7.0 upgrade: important information

The following phones will soon receive an upgrade to version 7:

  • Brax 3

  • Fairphone 5

  • Google Pixel from 5 to 9

  • Motorola G32/G42/G52/edge 30/edge 40 pro

  • OnePlus 9/9 pro/11

  • Samsung series 10

Exceptionally, in order to install it, you will need to install a temporary update of the ‘Updater’ application if your current system version is 6. After installing iodéOS 7.0, you will need to uninstall the update of this application. If you don’t install that update, a popup will appear, stating that the update is not possible and redirecting to a LineageOS wiki page (if your device is supported by LineageOS).

Here are the steps to follow:

1. Install the application available here.

2. Install the system upgrade when it becomes available. Restart the device and check that you have successfully upgraded to version 7.

3. Uninstall the update of the ‘Updater’ application: long press on its icon, select ‘About app’, then the three-dot menu in the top right corner, and finally ‘Uninstall updates’.

If you’re on the v7 beta, you already have the latest OS version, you have nothing to do. If you want to come back to stable release channel, you can uninstall the beta updater.

Is this process of downloading the special updater required for all big version updates of iodé, or is it exceptional only this time for the v6→v7 migration?

It is exceptional for the v6 to v7 transition. It is due to a change in the LineageOS updater blocking major updates until a system property is set, that we saw too late.

BTW : another solution exists, instead of installing the v6 to v7 updater : setting that property to true, by issuing the command adb shell setprop lineage.updater.allow_major_upgrades true.

:germany: Super Sache….Geht das auch mit den Samsung Geräten die auf v.4 sind?

:united_kingdom: Great thing… Is this also possible with the Samsung devices that are on v.4?

for those who install the version via the beta application also need to uninstall?

No. The latest v6 beta updater has already been fixed.

The update for v4 Samsung devices can only been done by a complete reinstallation (recovery + rom sideload).

I’m on v7 beta Ive been checking but no update, do I

need to update my pixel 8 from beta?

The v7 upgrade has not been published yet.

If you’re on the latest beta, you’re already on the latest upgrade. The latest beta before an official release is the exact same build as the official release.

It arrived for me on my g52, all working fine no problem at all.

Thanks !

My Fairphone 4 should be upgraded but I messed up. Can I safely uninstall 6.10 and do another update provided the Updated v6-to-v7.apk is applied first?

Google Pixel 6a (bluejay)

iode-7.0-20251208-bluejay-fastboot
iodéOS-Version 7.0-20251129 (A16) release-keys
Relocked bootloader
Android Security update 2025.11.01
microG Services v 0.3.10.250932

I like a fresh installation. I like the straightforward and secure installation via iode-7.0-20251208-bluejay-fastboot just like with the Calyx Device Flasher back then. I like smartphones with a re-locked bootloader. I’ve liked iodéOS since January 2022. Cheers to the chef developer :100:

FP4 is not upgradable to v7 yet, as explained in the first post of that thread.

Sorry, I am confused. FP5 was not included. Where specifically does it say FP4 not included?

FP5 is included, FP4 not, I don’t see your point.

The v7.0 build are not rolled out yet, right?
Cannot see them on Xperia XA2 “pioneer” after the Updater update, but 6.10 instead.
Also on other devices I dont find them here:

Or did I miss something?
Big thanks for working on Iode OS anyway!
