iodéOS v7.0 upgrade: important information

Whether it’s v7.x Build or v6.xx is secondary for me. What’s important to me is continuity and a stable system.

The current releases of v6.10 and v7.0 can be found here >>>

I understand that the link in the newsletter is a bit misleading. It links to the complete list of all officially supported models, which could be misunderstood as “this is the list of all devices with version 7.” That list then specifies the highest possible iodéOS version for each device. It’s easy to overlook this in the excitement surrounding version 7. Developers probably find this obvious, but it can lead to misunderstandings for users.

Hey Vincent,

your list of officially supported devices says Fairphone 4 “7 (LOS 23, Android 16)”. Maybe mistyped?

Assuming you’re right, will FP4 be upgraded to 7 from 6.10, with next release? (not requiring the Updater 6to7?)

Thank you!!

Ok understood. Fairphone 4 and Sony XA2 were expected to switch to v7, but some issues have to be fixed first. The table effectively does not reflects that. I cannot give any ETA: maybe next release, maybe not.

Hi,

Is V7.0 was upgrade with MicroG.

I had to quit IodeOS because my banking App (N26, Caisse d’epargne) was not working anymore.

I run now fairphoneOS, but it’s not really great ;-(

All builds would integrate any new upstream microG releases, but I don’t think there are any major changes here. microG and our implementation of it still does not pass “Google Play Integrity - Device Integrity”. Regarding N26 specifically, I see this issue at microG, but it hasn’t had any traction. Regardless, I think adding an update there (or looking for other Play Integrity issues there) may be a good place to inquire.

Pixel 7 perfect update. Thanks

So, the only solution to run these applications that use Google services would be to install minimalist GAPPS (micro or nano), just to bypass the “Google Play Integrity” tests.
We would have a 100% operational IodéOS phone with a few concessions.

Questions:
Is IodéOS compatible?

Works perfectly on Pixel 5. The process worked flawlessly, directly as described. Thanks for such a great work.

It’s funny how there’s no bank with a foss app at all. Just use sats

No, microG (included in iodéOS builds) and actual Play Services are not compatible, they will conflict. So effectively you can’t install them into iodéOS. Instead you should look at LineageOS and add the GAPPS version you want to try or just stay on FairphoneOS. Sorry.

I think it’s important to mention that installing the official, proprietary Play Services would still not result in passing Play Integrity.

microG supports Play Integrity now, the API, but passing it, having it be fooled, is a whole nother thing. It is impracticable.

People manage to do something or another by extracting hardware keys and setting up root based solutions but in the end the keys are found and revoked. It doesn’t work in the long run and ends up being a big cat and mouse game.

Hi, I’m on the pixel 5, IodéOS 6.9 at the time, and there’s no update available in the updater app. I’ve tried with and without the update of the updater app, over wifi or 5g data, with no success. The updater app failed saying I’m not connected to the internet. But everything seems fine regarding the internet connection.

Did you do something else ?

Yes. You have to follow the steps described in IODE 7 update - you have to update the updater app firstly, than update the system. It is described in forum here - Iode 7 update

Thanks for your answer, but like I’ve said, I’ve no updates available with the updater app update, or without….

For information, it’s the same with my oneplus5T running LineageOS 22.2….

Well, it you followed this link iodéOS v7.0 upgrade: important information and those step by step instructions did not work for you, I am out of any further insights, because I am just ordinary IODE user. So sorry for not be able to help you more. Hope some admin will know how to solve your issue.
