Volla Plinius supporting Merlin app microphone?

Contemplating ordering a Volla Plinius phone, but not if support for Merlin bird id can be guaranteed.

So what would it be?

I just downloaded it on a device with iodeOS and it works great, was able to correctly identify a bunch of calls from a youtube channel. For future app compatibility doubts, see here.

The reason for bringing this up is my Fairphone 5 running iode 7.6. Merlin bird id doesn’t work here. No recording takes place. Microphone seems dead but works in the phone app and others.

It could be a hardware/firmware issue also on a brand new Volla Plinius, hence my question.

That sounds more like a permissions issue than a FP5 issue, as this was sorted last year: Some apps using microphone seem not to be able to do so - #7 by Steven_Raaijmakers - Fairphone 5 - Fairphone Community Forum

Try to revoke microphone access for the app and allow it again right away, or failing that, reinstall. That will also make sure you are on the latest version of Merlin Bird. If this was a general issue like the one linked above, i think we’d see more feedback.

hope that helps.

It is a real problem on my FP5. On my FP4 however, it works perfectly.

The suggested procedure doesn’t make any difference.

My FP5 is at iodeOS 7.7

The situation is very frustrating

@taus Then I suggest you open a thread specific to the hardware and with FP5 in the title either on this forum or on FP’s forum, so that your issue gets attention from users on the same hardware.

As for the Plinius it is very likley to work (i tried on a brax3 and a mi 9 lite, both worked). Maybe just contact the sales team or just put a note in your order, it’s likely their return policy allows returning it within a certain window, no questions asked, if for some reason the plinius didn’t work out: Contact - iodé

Sorry to come in late, but below is the thread where @taus and I have tried several things to solve it, unfortunately without success for them up until now:
