Unofficial builds for Sony Xperia devices

The latest official build for pioneer is 6.8, available at https://gitlab.iode.tech/ota/release/-/tree/master/pioneer?ref_type=heads

Does that solve your issue?

Feeling like an idio now, thanks @petefoth ! :innocent:
I swear the OTA update wasnt available in the last days!
I’ll report back here soon…

Not a biggie but the description on the first post for version is 6.6 whereas most (if not all) have 6.8 at least from previous week (and probably form 8-9 october ?!)

Yeah, @petefoth and I just link to the device folder on the lineageos 4 microG download server: new builds are put in the same folder, so the links don’t change but the contents are updated with the new builds.

We should probably change the text in the table to Download instead of the build number: that should never go ‘out of date’

Or just let me know when there’s a new version and I’ll edit them… hopefully all of them are at 6.8 now..

After downloading 6.9. on an XZ2 “Akari” I cannot install it as it says “verification failed” (my translation from German: “Überprüfung fehlgeschlagen”.
Is there something I can do about this?

Last night I used the installer to install 6.9 on an XZ3 (akatsuki) and everything ran smoothly. Were you doing a manual install or using the installer?

You were on the unofficial build from @petefoth before and attempted to locally update to the new unofficial build from pete? Or is there an “official” build with a different build signature in play here?

Its on the unofficial build 6.6, yes.
Interestingly it gave me a notification for an OTA update to 6.9. (6.7. and 6.8. dont show up in the updater). I am able to do the update via sideload, its more that I want to give feedback on this matter and dont really now whats helpful and whats a waste of your time…
Thank you all!

I haven’t made the unofficial 6.9 builds yet. The updater will be picking up the official 6.9 builds. I’ll try to do something to stop that happening when I get back home to my computer.

Interesting, and thanks.
Usually the update does not show the updates of the official builds, at least not so far…
Maybe thats because of Riks intentions to make OTA updates for unofficall builds possible!

Nope, as Pete well knows I have done absolutely nothing yet  . Is it new that iodé makes official builds for akari?

No. I think it’s always been an official device. The list in [EDITABLE LIST] IodéOS official & unofficial devices currently shows iodéOS version as 5.x / Android 14 but it should be 6.x / Android 15 (see here). I’m not sure why I am making unofficial builds, when there are official builds available, but id does give people the option of rooted debugging and working backup.

New builds available at IodeOS

  • 5.18 for the Yoshino devices
  • 6.9 for the rest

Not tested. Use at your own risk, etc, etc.

Working on XZ1C “Lilac” thank you Pete!
Any big changes?

Not that I know of. Just what’s in the latest Iodé and LineageOS

Okay, that would definitely be good if it was officially supported and that sounds good, thank you for that.

When will this work be completed?

Okay, i also thank you for that and is it generally possible with iodeos to get by without MicroG and Google services, which are still installed, which I don’t think is good and don’t want.

I also don’t need the Aurora App Store or anything else where you can download Google apps. Unfortunately, iodeos is not completely free from Google.

Okay, i’m happy about the OTA function and that’s not a bad thing. Because i am also patient and can wait.

Okay, thanks.

… new

Unfortunately, I can’t manually install the latest version 6.9 of iodeos on my cell phone Sony Xperia XZ2C because of an error and I don’t see an error code for the error, which I could share with you here.

I’ve tried this twice and it always just gives me an error and I don’t know why.

Unfortunately, automatically deactivating WI-Fi after a set time does not work yet.

Maybe you can take a look at it and fix the error.

Thank you very much.

Then you can disable or uninstall it. Plenty of posts in the forum about how to uninstall pre-installed apps. Or just don’t use it

It doesn’t claim to be ‘completely free from Google.’. The documentation says

iodéOS is an android operating system freed from Google trackers

iodéOS removes proprietary Google services and trackers, significantly reducing background data collection and surveillance.

and

(LineageOS) still retains Google background services that can collect personal data. iodéOS goes a step further by removing these components and replacing them with carefully selected, privacy-focused alternatives.

You don’t state how you were trying to install the update. I have no problem, installing 6.9 over 6.8 on my ZX2C. I followed the following steps

  1. Boot to recovery: with device powered off and the cable disconnected, hold Volume down & Power keys until the device vibrates
  2. Connect the USB cable
  3. In recovery, choose Apply update`then `Apply from adb`
  4. On the computer, adb sideload iode-6.9-20251117-xz2c.zip
  5. In recovery, if you see a prompt saying Signature verification failed, choose Apply anyway
  6. When the installation completes, reboot the phone

Sorry - I just make and publish the builds. I don’t have time to investigate issues which may or may not be specific to particular devices. You could create a new post in the forum asking if anyone else has encountered this problem.
