@Petefoth is it possible for you to investigate why Local updates are not working for Sony builds, yet they seem to work for Pixel devices? Maybe they are working for other Sonys but for XZ2 premium they are not working.

Sorry but doing this would be low down my list of priorities.

AFAIK my builds can all be installed and updated successfully using adb sideload. If Local update doesn’t work, that

However it seems that the fastboot method cannot be relied on: it failed for @Cooler on aurora (see here. So I tried on xz2c and that failed also.

I don’t have the time or resources to test or debug the fastboot installation method, so my builds will in future only support installation via recovery (which is the only installation method supported by LineageOS and LineagOS for microG).

That is ok, no problem. I thought you and rik are building similarly the images so it seemed a bit strange to have different behavior.. but I understand very well the low priority reason.
When/if OTA updates will be implemented the importance of Local updates will be reduced a lot (my opinion!).
I can live just fine without Local updates or OTAs.
