I’ve just tried this. When I turn flight mode off again, it takes a little while (30s - 2minutes) before the 4g connection comes back. Running v 5.8.-20241220
Unfortunatley for me 4g never comes back. I also tried switching to 3g as the prefered connection method, but that did not help either. One observation: When it worked, the modem at startup always showed a notification. This notification does not show up any more. [EDIT: it still shows up: Status is 2]
I am also running 5.8-20241220
Dirty Flashing did not resolve the issue! Time to look into a backup strategy. Does SeedVault work as advertised ? I just realized that upon a restart the CustomizationSelector kicks in - not sure what it exactly does, but maybe its a hint to some experts?
I’ve not tried SeedVault in a long time. Last time I did, it wasn’t very good: failed to back up a lot of apps, failed to restore some apps is had backed up
I use GitHub - AndDiSa/android_backup_project to backup my user-installed apps and (some) data. It requires rooted debugging and a LInux machine, real or virtual. Will backup and restore all of your apps, and some data: See this post for guidance on how to use the tool and here for some info on what will and will not get restored
Ok, unfortunately nothing helped bringing back mobile connection: Dirty flashing didn’t work, so I wiped everything and reinstalled iode - to no avail. So as a last resort I flashed the original stock rom (Android 9) which resurrected mobile connection. Then I had to install TRWP 3.7 again and sideloaded @petefoth 's latest build. Mobile connection is still working. I tried to reproduce why I thought it failed the last time by enabling / disabling flight mode: However this didn’t reproduce my problem, which leaves me wondering why I had this problem out of nowhere for 4 times so far. So any hints from other ZXC1 users are really welcome.
I’m really not sure but it seems to look like the problem we had me and rom4nb. Even if it’s not the same exactly it’s a connection problem.
I’m telling you that just because apparently going back to stock ROM fixed the problem and that’s what fixed the problem for me.
But for me there was a really simpler solution it’s this :
I did it several times, because my problem came back several times and it worked everytime, and it took me 2min.
Thanks for the link. I believe I tried this in the past, but wasn’t sucessful. Anyway, I have bookmarked the link and if the phenomenn reappears, I will give it antother try. Nevertheless it would be good to find out what the root cause for the brekadown of mobile connection is.
Hi,
I’ve noticed that there is a new version of iodéOS (5.9) where you post your versions.
And there is a recovery img. Do we need to change recovery ? I am on TWRP version 3.6.2. Is it a new version of TWRP or is it a completely different recovery ?
And if it’s different, will TWRP still work with iodéOS 5.9 ?
Thanks a lot
No need to change. I still use TWRP and I’ve never used the Iodé recovery (which isn’t TWRP - it’s based on LineageOS recovery with - I believe - some Iodé-specific changes).
It should do. I haven’t tried flashing the new build - my device has a broken screen and I’m using XZ2 Compact as my daily driver for now. I did flash a new build for dual-SIM XZ1 (poplar_dsds
) using TWRP, with no problems.
I flashed 5.9 without problems via adb sideload. But it wasn’t with TWRP. Anyway, I didn’t update recovery for it .
No problems here.
Thank you. I flashed 5.9 and everything works. Thanks a lot.
Just for completeness, my XZ1c’s call audio problem (i.e. lack of) returned, but has now seemingly been fixed again; all I did was insert a different SIM from a different provider. (Posting here just in case someone else has the same issue after a build update.)
Pete, any chance we get the ‘unlock phone with fingerprint from a display off status’ working? I don’t want to press the button so it does not deteriorate and therefore have waveup installed at the moment.
Or should it work and simply doesn’t on my phone?
I’m just building with the upstream code for IodéOS, and the unofficial LineageOS device and kernel tree sources and vendor blobs. If ths feature doesnt work, it doesn’t work. It’s not something that I am in a position to change. Sorry!
EDIT:
I’ve just checked on my device. In Settings | Security | Device unlock | Fingerprint , enable ‘Touch to unlock at any time’. Then you only need to touch the button once to unlock. I don’t know of any way to register a touch without pressing the button slightly: that’s just the way the hardware works as far as I know
OK then. Not that important anyway.
Thank you for your work!
Hi everyone,
I’ve noticed that with 5.9 I don’t have a pdf reader anymore. Is it normal ? And if it is normal do you know a good pdf reader that respects privacy ?
Thanks
You’re right.
I would recommend MuPDF. Open source, also reads epub etc.
Ah. If you only need a reader for pdf, Iodé browser does that, and even allows searching in the document.
