Unable to reinstall Aurora and ioDroid on FP5

Hi.

I am with iodeOS 7.7 on Fairphone 5

It seemed to me automatic updates were not happening for Aurora and ioDroid.

I decided then to uninstall Aurora and ioDroid, using the Preinstalled App menu in Parameter settings.

They did uninstall but I am not able to install them again. The preinstalled app menu shows them as install but I can find them neither in the application list of Settings nor on the launcher.

Reading iodéOS 7.7 - "F-Droid" -> "ioDroid" - #6 by laneb I installed f-droid, added iodé repo and tried to install them.

It is proposed to update when I try to install but the install button remains. I see now the apps in the Settings>Applications menu but I don’t find them on the launcher. So, I can’t launch any of them.

Any idea how to retrieve these apps on my FP5 ?

FP5 is the one that has an occasional issue with “Preinstalled Apps confusion” which hasn’t been resolved or able to reproduced by our lead developer.

First a question: after your “preinstalled apps uninstall” did you reboot? And then again did you reboot after “preinstalled apps install”?

If so, then it must be related to this bug I note, if you read farther down the thread you link I got feedback from Vincent (lead dev) to reset your iodé app custom settings… There are a few extra comments there about making sure to “uninstall updates” to the ioDroid app, etc. that may be adding to the confusion.

Hi.

I don’t count anymore the number of reboots (even several times in-between changes).

Unsure what you mean by resetting Iodé app. What I did is to go to Settings>Applications>Iodé and erased App data and cache. But it didn’t help.

What just worked :

• Install ioDroid and Aurora from Preinstalled App menu. They will not be visible yet.
• Install F-droid and add iodéOS repo.
• In F-droid, look for ioDroid and click on Install. An update will be proposed and needs to be accepted. The Install button will remain visible though.
• Go to Settings>Applications>ioDroid, click on the 3 vertical dots on the top right and select Uninstall updates.
• ioDroid will, finally, become visible in the launcher.
• Do the the same for Aurora store (select Iodé repo as source in F-droid).

@Turtle and @EthGahus I did hear back from Vincent that he can’t re-create it, but that the FP5 (and only the FP5?) has an issue with “Preinstalled Apps” confusion like this. He indicates there isn’t enough logging in the blocker for traces to be useful, unfortunately. But he does note that the Preinstalled Apps management uses the same process as the blocker (partly due to them both needing to run at the system level not just user level). Due to this, a trial to work around the problem is “to …

So within the iodé app settings (not from AppInfo) reset the blocker using “Data reset”, with above explanation why it may be relevant.

But now that you have solved it otherwise no matter. It is a strange one that only the FP5 specifically is showing this issue (according to Vincent).
