I’m trying to install iodeOS on my Fairphone 6, but after unlocking the bootloader the Installer fails download iodeOS 7.1 (“System Download Failure - please check your internet connection and try again”).
Internet connection works (downloading the flash tools in the first step worked like a charm). There are no error messages on stdout, and I didn’t find a log file. I’m on Ubuntu Linux.
However I can’t set any settings(unlock pin, pattern whatever), boots also always in sound off/disabled/mute mode. I can’t also install apps or update apps from the aurora store.
Maybe an issue linked to frp. You can try to reinstall the fairphone firmware FP6.QREL.15.162 first with critical partitions unlocked (and don’t forget to enable again “OEM unlocking” in developer settings, it will switched off even if the bootloader stays unlocked), and then iodé again.
EDIT: it seems that even with OEM unlocking enabled in FPOS, get_unlock_ability can still be 0 in fastboot mode which may yield bricking the device if there’s any problem with bootloader relocking. It also seems that FPOS must not be booted before flashing iodé, which resets and keeps get_unlock_ability to 1.
I’ll investigate this problem soon, but what to absolutely avoid is to relock the bootloader when fastboot getvar get_unlock_ability returns 0.
EDIT 2 : get_unlock_ability does not exist anymore in FP6. So boot FPOS and ensure OEM unlocking is enabled.
Is it the latest available fastboot package (20251216) ? Bootloader should be relockable. You can unlock it manually at any time, tough it will wipe your data.
Another version has been uploaded, 20251218, available in the betas gitlab repos and the installer. It may fix a potential problem with relocking, depending of the latest device SPL .
so good to know, it is working now. I would also like to install IodeOs on the fairphone 6, I cannot find the fp6 files and the installer is marked as not compatible. And there is no description for FP6 installation on gitlab. I am wondering, how did you do it? You mentioned the installer but I am a bit cautious.. Should I wait?
