Turning on Bluetooth causes a restart on Fairphone 5

I am on iodéOS 6.4 and Fairphone 5 and I just noticed that turning on Bluetooth causes a reboot of the entire device. After the Bluetooth is on and everything works as normal.

Surprisingly, this does not happen every time. I am starting this partly to keep track of it and write up some observations. My first impression is that this happens after a longer period of idleness.

Please let me know if anyone else is seeing a similar issue.

Hi,

facing the same issue here. FP5 on iodé 6.4. Today after switching off and on back again bluetooth my phone restarted.

I have some other trouble as well:

  1. restarts when using Spotify (listen to something - stop - using other apps - going back to Spotify - play something - restart)

  2. after installing 6.4 something constantly crashed, it seems it had to do with the sim manager. Installing it helped

  3. There seem to be some Lineage app leftovers in the system, e.g. I see an AudioFX App icon and another one as well.

So my assumption is that build 6.4 is buggy and we have to wait for 6.5 if no one else provides a solution.

For the record:

I saw this happening for me as well: sporadic reboots when turning on bluetooth. and I am using 6.5 already.

But: I have more problems, see here: Weird WLAN/reboot/SIM problems with iodeOS on FP5 (fairphone 5)

Hi,i have the same problems since installation on 6.5. (FP5). Turning on the flight mode or the music app causes a new start of the device.

I can confirm the reboot when starting the “Music” App, then I un-granted the permissions on Music/Video files and killed the app. Restarting it does not reboot and even with the granted permissions, it opens fine… can’t reproduce the reboot since. (?)

I cannot reproduce the reboot on turning on flight mode, though that might have happened before, I cannot remember.

I no longer see the problem with Bluetooth after updating to 6.5.

Well, it is good you are not having issues anymore, but wow this is a strange bug and it seems others still have it (only with FP5??). Are you on the beta channel perhaps? (which would mean that your 6.5 won’t exactly match the “stable” 6.5 release).

@ahornick @Tobias or @big_b_2k can you confirm that you didn’t have issues before 6.4, or were they new installs at that time so it was never working better for you?

No, I am not on the beta channel. The problem went away for me on the 6.5 released on 14th of June, but I also installed the fix that came out on 1st of July and the problem has not resurfaced.
