Pixel Camera app (downloaded from Aurora Store) stopped working after iodéOS 7.3 update: it opens to a black screen and then immediately closes
Hi All
I’m having the same problem. On Android 16 (7.2) the Pixel Camera app worked perfectly on my Pixel 7 Pro. I was using this version from APKMirror:
However, after updating to the latest version (7.3)*, the camera app fails to start. I’ve tried several workarounds, but nothing has worked so far.
Question: Is there a way to roll back to the previous version without losing my data?
Thanks in advance for any tips or help!
Best regards,
ivi"
Also having this problem after updating to IodéOS 7.3
I’m using the Aurora Store version.
Clearing data, reinstalling, both innefectual.
P.S., I’m using this version of the Pixel Camera app until there’s a fix: BSG: MGC_9.4.103_V36
(Use at your own risk, YMMV, etc.)
On Pixel 5, iodéOS 7.3 Pixel camera build v9.2.113.604778888 works normally. The build is from Aurora Store.
Hi chewie
Thank you very much for your helpfull recommendation!
Quetion, do you use a config file, or is this not necessarily with a pixel phone?
Finally, why works a aurora version but a apkmirror not (like in 7.2) ?
Greetings ivi
Does uninstalling it and reinstalling it correct these issues?
Didn’t for me.
I don’t use a config file. AFAIK, it works normally on Pixel phones.
I’m going to try the aurora version again. I never had any luck getting the pixel camera app from apkmirror to work
Strange, I can’t even get the Aurora store to install Pixel Camera (or show the version number) anymore. Not on my main account, not in my private space, not in an alternate on-phone user account. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
When I try to install it from Aurora, it just fails immediately, and then I get a “Could not get files” notification from Aurora.
Same problem I am experiencing with Android Auto. Strange.
On a Pixel 6 with v7.3 I don’t have any issues with com.google.android.GoogleCamera 10.2.095.854411128.10? I do have network access removed btw ![]()
The Aurora Store still just shows version “0” for Pixel Camera, and won’t download it. Even on my alternate User account on the phone. I’m not logged into a real Google account on the Aurora Store, though.
I even tried the manual download option to punch in the version number you provided, and it won’t let me enter decimal point?!? ![]()

Yes please do NOT login to Aurora. Can you change your Aurora “Spoof manager” to “Google Pixel 9a” and try again to install?
Ok, changing the spoof to a 9a did allow it to download and install, but it’s version 9.8.102.748116395.16, and it does the same thing (crash as soon as it opens).
P.S., I tried manually downloading the version you specified using the version integer/code (68920674), but it just fails with a notification that says, “Could not get files”
Hi Chewie,
I don’t understand why you want to install the Aurora or APKMirror version?
Since you recommended your camera version to me, I’ve been really happy with it. In fact, it is more stable and takes better pictures than the 2GB version on APKMirror.
By the way, found this version. The only one that works with the power button to switch on the camera…
Greetings, ivi
Installed gcam 8.8 from link , however open and then shuts down , help please
Try this version, which I linked to above.
The Aurora version had the control for boosting dynamic range (bringing up the shadows), which the Gcam custom version lacks.
I’ve reverted to just using the stock AOSP camera for now, until I can get the Aurora store/official version installed again.
Thank you for the explanation.
My link from above, is the correct link for the pixel 7 pro. Sorry if this was not clear.![]()
