Pixel 8 not looking for wifi networks

  • Device: (Pixel 8)
  • iodéOS Version: (75-20260427-shiba)
  • Affected App(s): (Network connections)

Short Description:

Pixel 8 stopped looking for WiFi networks. Other devices work fine on my home wifi. Tried rebooting both phone (several times) and router. Each time I go back to Internet settings, “Use Wi-Fi” is off. When I turn it on, networks don’t appear. When I leave Internet Settings and go back, “Use Wi-Fi” is off again. 5G Mobile service works fine, but mobile service is lousy in my neighborhood.

Speculation is that your dns connectivity check is failing, and then the system thinks you don’t have internet so possibly disables the connection? Can you check on that and report what dns servers are set for your home network devices? (In my case before, cloudflare 1.1.1.1 was causing this issue, but after changing to quad9 9.9.9.9. the check works again and there are no issues)

At one point I decided to put the phone into a safe mode that disables all apps. The next morning I found that it could find the networks again. Not sure what to think about that.

Again there is a difference between the connectivity check reporting you have no internet and it not having internet. So clarification is needed.

If it is truly it not able to detect and use wifi then this is a bigger issue. Has this always been true since first installing iodéOS?

No, it’s an intermittent issue. This time safe mode is not helping.

It’s still an issue. I’ve tried switching from automatic to Cloudflare, and that hasn’t changed anything.

Are you running any additional VPN or firewall app such as Netguard or other?

Good question. I was running Mullvad VPN, but I just disabled it, restarted iode and I’m still not seeing any wifi networks. I go to the screen that says “Use Wifi” but it doesn’t do anything and then when I go back to the screen, it’s disabled again.

In reference to a previous question, my Private DNS Mode options are automatic, Cloudflare, Quad9 and an opportunity to enter another server. I’ve tried all of the options, but that doesn’t seem to change anything.

It’s also worth noting that between now and the last time it went out, I actually switched ISPs from Spectrum to TDS, and my phone has had difficulty connecting to both, though in the beginning it was fine. Though, like I said, I once got it to work when I put it on safe mode and left it that way overnight. But I haven’t been able to successfully replicate that fix.
