Pixel 7 install

So I picked up a used pixel 7 and am running into install issues running the installer version 7.2. Everything proceeds as normal until FastbootD then we just hang in perpetuity. Any thoughts?

More Details … Under which OS? Last Output?

Same here. Also the installer was identifying my Pixel 7 as a Pixel 7 Pro

Sounds like you hit the same snag in that thread that I did and ran all the same processes. I’m running it on Linux Mint cinnamon. I even tried going down to stock android 15 but ran into the same result. Wish I would have saved the output from the installer. Hopefully it gets figured by the wonderful iode team. Maybe I’ll try running it through the terminal at some point in the next week or two.

I gave up and put GOS on the Pixel 7 after several iode installer tries. After that a Pixel 8 Pro was successful on the first try. So I’m convinced the problem is related to a Pixel 7. Not cables or whether you use Linux or Windows.

If you have correctly installed the Google USB drivers with ADB, then you just need to follow these steps when your smartphone is connected in fastboot mode:

  1. Right-click on windows icon in the lower-left corner and open Device.

  2. Expand the Portable Devices section.

  3. Right-click on the connected device name and select “Update Driver Software”.

  4. In Hardware Update Wizard, click on Browse my computer for driver software".

  5. Click on “Let me pick from a list of my available drivers on my compter” and click “Next”.

  6. Select “ADB interface” and click “Next”.

  7. Select “MTP USB Device” (the one in the middle)

  8. Close and enjoy

Got iode installed today. I ended up uninstalling android platform tools along with the previous iode installer. Reinstalled both. Also I left the pixel on the home screen instead of launching from fast boot like I normally do. It walked right through the install. Thank you to all who chimed in.

FWIW – I installed Iode on a Pixel 7 in mid-January with zero problem. It installed v7.1 which was current at the time. I’m on Ubuntu, using the Linux desktop installer. I had previous experience installing it on a Pixel 4a and Pixel 6a.

I stated before it was not a driver issue
