iodéOS 5 is coming! And we need your input

That’s the big advantage of Iode.
You can, but you you don’t have to use these Apps.
And if I decide to don’t want it, they are really not installed.
So for me, in general, if they decide to change nothing, it doesn’t really hurt me.
I can do and choose whatever I want…

pEp → FairMail
Geometric Weather → Breezy Weather

As already mentioned, it is not that important as you can uninstall an app if it does not suit you.

Thank you for involving the community in such decisions!

pEp → K9
Open Camera → Aperture
Magic Earth → OsmAnd
Geometric Weather → Clima (pretty and minimalistic)

I really like Fairemail and I think it’s great but it might be an Overkill for some.
K9 will soon become Thunderbird for Android and I assume the UI will be much better then.

Open camera has a very unintuitive UI but the results are ok. All camera apps seem to crash with me occasional though recently

pEp >> Fairmail (i would give Thunderbird a chance if they change the “nice” new UI of K9-Mail)
Open Camera >> Aperture (or a GCam Port but this is too device specific i guess)
Open keyboard >> AOSP with Gesture Typing

Carnet → Joplin
Open Camera → Aperture
pEp → FairMail

pEp → FairEmail
Magic Earth → OsmAnd+
Carnet → Joplin

Carnet → Obsidian
Open Camera → Aperture
pEp → FairMail

QKSMS → Fossify SMS Messenger

Qksms → Fossify Messages
Open keyboard → AnySoftKeyboard, FlickBoard, 8Vim (the last two are not suitable for everyone)

Of course its great that you can unistall these apps, my argument was more that imo it isn’t too much to ask for users to install e.g. their own mail app
Therefore, if providing own versions of the apps requires significant developer time, this time could maybe reallocated

Another option would be to allow users to decide which app they want via a range of options for each category with the most popular vote pre-selected, which then downloads the apps and installs them.

This could be on the initial welcome screen and in the system settings.

I use Simple Mobile Tools for nearly everything:
Contacts, Dialer, SMS, Calendar, Datamanager, Galery, Clock, Notes, etc.

I suggest to stop using them a.s.a.p. and replace them with Fossify:

Thanks! I was not aware!!!

Thanks for reaching out to the community on this topic!

My suggestions don’t differ much from other users here but I’ll share it anyway:

pEp → K9 (beginner), FairEmail (expert)
Geometric Weather → Breezy Weather
Carnet → Joplin, Standard Notes (idc) I use Tasks and Myphoneexplorer Notes
Open Camera → Aperture (beginner), keep OpenCamera for experts or preinstall fitting gcam mod
QKSMS → Fossify SMS or keep it

Further suggestions are:
Use full catalogue of fossify apps (maybe a collaboration would be the future)
Replace Magic Earth with Organic Maps (beginner) or Osmand+ (expert)
And even replace fdroid with droid-ify for material design and a wide range of preselectable repositories

IodéOS is the best!

Hi guys !

As many of previous replies:
pEp → k9 is fine for me
Carnet, I kind of use it with my nextcloud server…
OpenCamera → Aperture

Also I would like to ask a feature if not already available in Android 14:
An option to charge the battery from 20 to 80 percents or so, at least to stop charging when reaching a given level. That can save the battery lifetime and the impact on the daily use is quite small.
From 100 to 80 and below 20 the battery is very fast to discharge and very slow to charge. Usual linear voltage with respect to capacity is between 20 and 80ish

For Iode who sells FP and refurbished phones, the battery lifetime should be of high interet IMHO.
Would that be possible ?

A charge control (deutsch: Ladekontrolle) is already implemented.

But what @diablotin mentioned is not implemented in all devices

OK. Didn’t know. In my FP4 it’s already implemented.
