On my Fairphone 5 with Iode 7.2, when I make phone call or use the magnetophone app and record, I almost don’t hear me, but I ear like a small engine, or a cyclic “clic clic”. When I wanted to demonstrate this by recording it was working fine. Then got a phone call, and I was not heard by the other side. But sometimes it works.
I was wondering if that could be related to a software issue or a hardware issue. A reboot does not fix the problem. Any idea to test that ?
I am bit annoyed since I don’t see any piece to replace the microphone.
I am not sure the phone is still under warranty (bought on Iode shop). Fairphone has a warranty of 5 years and I probably bought it ~3 years ago. FP5 was on Iode 5 and soon after the purchase I upgraded to 6.
Hi @MissPiggy .
Thank you for your reply.
I indeed did not know about the registration for the extended warranty. But I am fine with it. I can buy a new microphone. I already bough a usb-c.
If you can share a link for the microphone of FP5 that would already help in case a next update of Iode does not help.
You could check the Topics tagged microphone to find out if it is possible for you to clean the microphone (voiding any warranty is not an issue for you).
Thanks for your inputs.
So I guess it is a HW issue.
I tried the “Service Menu” but the “number” does nothing.
I tried to install the MyFairphone app but I cannot find it on Aurora store ?!
I wanted to make a record of the strange noise but it was working this time. I am really confused what could make it work sometimes and not working other times …
Thank you for your support.
I will come back if I can make the record that is not ok
