OwnTracks hasn’t worked well since QPR1. Especially not in the mode of major changes. However, this is also a problem on StockOS, as I understood. GrapheneOS seems to have fixed this itself.

Issues with Android 16

Hi people, ever since GrapheneOS updated to Android 16, OwnTracks stopped workin…g properly. It will only update my location whenever I open the app. I know this sounds like a battery optimization thing, however I double-checked that the background usage was set to unrestricted and the option to pause the app when unused was deactivated. I have no idea what to do or how to debug this problem. Maybe IodeOS can do something. Or the developer will find a possibility.

Before QPR1, it had worked wonderfully.

Thank you for letting me know, @teatimetom ! I may look into the service called FollowMee, which seems to be less invasive than Life360. Definitely not as private as running OwnTracks through a home lab, but better than our present arrangement.

You can also try Zood Location, Paralino and Family Link

Thank you again! Wow…I’d never heard of these three. Family Link, being a Google product, is out by default, and Zood Location doesn’t yet have an iOS app (my family members are iPhone users), but Paralino looks like a great contender to FollowMee. Again, I appreciate your input!
