Can't log in Google Maps with Google account anymore

Hi everyone! I’m coming on here to see if anyone would be able to help me. Long story short, I have an issue with Google maps not letting me sign in with my Google account.

When I opened the app this morning, I was signed out of my Google account and I haven’t been able to log back in ever since. Tried clearing cache, data, uninstalling and reinstalling maps & even microG/GMSCore, but nothing works. When maps prompts me to log in, it doesn’t show my account and when I try to log in manually, it tells me an account already exists (see the screenshot). At this point idk what to do lol, any help would be very much appreciated

could also be related to the fact that Google blocks accounts when you use the aurora store…

Consider it a bonus!

Is this because aurora gives away your hardware identifiers if you download anonomously? Don’t use it, just interested to know how safe it is.

Please can you give more details on this. I have not seen it reported elsewhere

https://piunikaweb.com/2023/05/29/google-banning-blocking-or-deleting-accounts-using-aurora-store-heres-the-official-word/ you can find a few links in this article.

Thanks. Yes there are some links, mostly to reddit posts I’ve seen before. Despite the title of the article, I don’t see anything that makes the information ‘official’.

And the article is 20 months old!

I don’t login to my Google account on my phones, but I would be interested in any evidence the current problems with Google Maps are due to

or whether that is a ‘fact’ at all

Some times you just have to go the extra mile if you truly believe in privacy and OSS. As I said before I don’t use Aurora although it has caused inconvienience I admit. I have even closed my bank account because they didn’t support an open source app’ for their clients and opened a new account with a bank that does. I’ll be damned if I have to go to playstore just because some faceless corporate says I have to.
