AXP WebView (AOSmium) not selectable on iodéOS

I am trying to use the AXP WebView (AOSmium) on my iodéOS installation, but it is not appearing as a selectable provider in the Developer Options.

Environment:

  • OS: iodéOS 6.11 on Pixel 3 (blueline)

  • WebView: AXP WebView (AOSmium)

  • Installed via: Droid-ify / F-Droid

It seems that current LineageOS-based systems might be filtering out third-party WebView providers. Could you please check if a fix or a relaxation of the provider restrictions is possible for future updates? That would be great!

A secound option for me would be, that the iodéOS F-Droid Repro also Updates the Webview Component.

I believe you are correct that various WebView options need to be manually accounted for. I added your suggestion of AXP WebView to the short list (with Cromite being the only other one we know about to add but it hard-codes itself with the same identifier as the default option so would need repackaging): Update Available WebView options (#65) · Issues · ota / issue-tracker · GitLab

I see that the developers have enabled AXP WebView, that will be available in 7.2 (you still need to install it separately as you have done, but it will now able to be configured as the default WebView).
