Xperia XA2 - Iodé 7

Will there be another version 7 for the Xperia XA2 (pioneer), or has it been written off?

I am checking if the devs will try again, but their last attempts resulted in non-working wifi and cellular modem. I suspect those are important to you?

Certainly the LineageOS builds don’t report this problem, so it may be a bug that can be resolved. Didn’t we have wifi issues with this device when upgrading from iodéOS 5 to 6 too?

Sorry I couldn’t write sooner. I mean, we had these same issues when we switched from version 5 to 6. However, Lineage didn’t have any problems of this kind back then, and it still doesn’t now. So it would be great if you could take another look at it.

I have inquired with the developers, will report if I hear any updates.

I’m happy to see how things are going with Iodé 7 to 7.4, but unfortunately it hasn’t been available on the Xperia XA2 for months.

It kind of reminds me of DivestOS. When the developer ran into a problem with the XA2, it was removed from the list of supported devices without any explanation. Well, DivestOS eventually faded into obscurity a bit later, but that wasn’t because of the XA2. I don’t think that will happen to Iodé, but they don’t seem to be great at troubleshooting either. Lineage 23.2 manages it, but it’s a little too unstable for me, so I installed SFOS, the latest Tampella version. I have to say, if you can do without Google entirely and want to be on the safe side like me, this is the perfect solution.
Bye for now, smiley606 and I’ll check back every once in a while

What’s wrong with running iodé 6.14 on Xperia XA2 securitiy wise? It’s a very stable build and Android15 still gets security updates,

LineageOS 22.2 for pioneer does not get updates anymore, but iodé 6.14 claims to have Android securitiy patches from March 2026 so I would suppose that iodé 6.x updates do still include device independent security patches for LineageOS 22.2 in the pioneer build.

Of course that will change once LineageOS 22.2 is EOL and it would indeed be nice to know whether there still is a chance that XA2 will eventually get iodé 7. At least so far nobody said that they have given up entirely on fixing the wifi/modem issue. Would be a pity as there really isn’t any alternative for a small phone with headphone jack, SD card and working VoLTE.

That doesn’t make sense either, since Lineage 23 (Android 16) has been available for months now, the last update was on April 2, 2026.

What I meant to say is that LineageOS 22.2 for pioneer doesn’t get updates anymore because Lineage moved on to Lineage23 and they only keep the latest Android version available for a specific device up to date. However, LineageOS 22.2 still gets updated for devices that will not get a LineageOS 23 release and it looks like iodé merges the device independent security patches for the pioneer iodé 6.x builds. Not sure about this but phone info says Android 15 with security update 1. March 2026.

I think that, if you want builds of an earlier Android version than is currently supported by LineageOS for a particular device, then you would need to build them yourself. The god news is hat is fairly straightforward to do that
