I only see 7.2 with an update 2 hours ago
Well, if I check here, there seems to be none yet.
There is a delay with the release of the brax3 due to build errors, but if you want to get 7.3, you can join the beta channel.
Thank you, but I’ll just stay where I’m at. However, if you can answer:
From my understaning, the Iode Blocker is updated via the updates, which seem to happen about monthly. This would mean that Brax3 users are not getting the latest protections. Does Iode put out interum patches for that, in a case like this?
The update is delayed due to a change with brax builds. Builds will be handled directly on braxtech servers starting next OTA, so iodé is waiting on feedback from the brax team before rolling out the 7.3 OTA.
A post was merged into an existing topic: Recently obtained a Brax3 with iode 6.3 installed
I see there is now IODE version 7.4 out, but it says not to upgrade from 7.2 to 7.4, or else you lose all your data possibly. So we have to upgrade to 7.3 first. So where can I find version 7.3?
For all users of Brax tech, it is necessary to understand, that it is Brax company who has a big say into the system features and a specific tweaks of iodéOS used on Brax devices. So it will always be a bit different experience as on other iodéOS devices. Included timely updates.
can you send a screenshot of where you are reading that an update will cause loss of data?
Updates are handled by the updater app. You should see the correct version for your needs (7.3) if you check for updates inside the app if you are on iodé 7.2. There is a delay with the 7.4 release for the brax as they are moving releases to their own servers. So starting with 7.4, OTA updates will come from braxtech directly, and it is out of iodé’s control. The iodé news app should contain any information you need about updates.
@brinerustle , It’s located in the last News app update for Iode on the Brax3….
You should see the 7.3 update if you are on 7.2, unless you still have the v6 to v7 Updater update installed. If that’s the case, you must uninstall the Updater update by long-press its icon, App info, three-dots menu upper right corner, then uninstall updates.
No: Brax tech does not control iodéOS development on the brax3, we keep our independence. They report issues, define their priorities, make suggestions, but we are still in fine responsible and decision-makers on the OS development. Until now (7.4 included), we produced all builds, and have not included anything more, or changed anything, than what already exists on our other devices. The user experience is exactly the same, apart as you mention, some little delay on the release dates.
This may change in the future, as Brax tech will host the builds, and maybe in the future produce them themselves. However, their builds will be allowed to keep the name iodéOS at the only condition that they respect some conditions of reproducibility against our own sources. iodéOS is free software, does not track users, offers as much as possible the same experience on all supported devices, and this will not change (or at least, this would be clearly stated).
@vince31fr Good to know. Thanks for shining the light on Brax iodeOS approach.
I had a similar journey, starting from 6.3, thanks to Rik’s help with the 6-7 updater update. 7, 7.2 and then 7.3. I deleted the updater updates as i progressed, and everything has worked pretty good except for this last time the updater will not check for updates. When I open it, it says no new update found, manually check fir updates. When i do, it says update check failed. please check your internet connection. Is this just something I can expect will clear up on its own? Or do I need to do something to clear thi issue?
Just checked on gitlab, there is no 7.4 (stable) for the Brax, yet. Did your news app tell you otherwise?
EDIT: Sorry, I missed this info
Ah, that ecplains it , thank you for the response.
. Guess I’ll just wait snd see then, until i hear from Brax.
