Video call without an external app?

Hi,

I noticed that I could call a friend via video using the Phone app. Just him for now. How is that possible? I’ve never heard of this feature before.

EDIT : It’s called “ViLTE” ! (Like VoLTE). It’s indeed video calls through the phone network…It isn’t encrypted and for the moment, it doesn’t work with WiFi on my device. (I’m more an XMPP user anyway)

Wasn’t that there already since 3G networks? Not that I was ever able to use it. But I think most dialers (even with Windows Mobile [before Windows Phone]) had an option to make a video call.

It’s not really new but I guess many operators didn’t include the service.
