Unofficial builds for Sony Xperia devices

Hi Pete …. Was my fault in the end. This is the 2nd 10 iv I’ve done, the previous one was around six weeks ago and thought I could do it from memory, but it would appear that I did not put the phone into fastbootD. I’ve just done it again this time in fastbootD and everything loaded just fine. The whacky thing is that even after figuring it out, I still don’t remember putting the phone into fastbootD the first time I did a 10 iv.

Anyway….. job done! :+1:

2026-02-22 edit from @rik:
The new download location is https://iode.lineage.microg.org/ It was changed in January 2026 to enable OTA updates for the L4M hosted unofficial iodéOS builds.

Sony Xperia 5 II (pdx206)

Supported models: XQ-AS72, XQ-AS62, XQ-AS52, XQ-AS42
.

The online “OTA update” and offline “Local update” work very well.
Thank you very much for building. :hot_beverage: :hot_beverage: :hot_beverage: Coffee for dev :double_exclamation_mark:

Note:
The renowned dev @ahnet provides an optional avb_custom_key.img file, allowing the bootloader to be locked again. A nice little bonus: FM Radio Works

Please be aware that the Sony website is pretty clear that re-locking the bootloader is not supported.

No. Once you have unlocked the bootloader, you will not be able to revert the device back to a locked or original state or restore the DRM security keys. You can however use the Flash tool for Xperia™ devices to flash a generic Sony ROM, although it will not receive automatic software upgrades.

Several reports in XDA forums of users having bricked their Sony devices by re-locking. If you insist on trying it, then you are pretty much on your own. From a quick read of realahnet’s GitHb document, it seems that his solution will only work on a phone running ‘latest AOSPA build’ (whatever that is), and you must use

the avb_custom.img from the release on github of the rom build you are using

Really I would strongly recommend not trying this. No-one here will be in a position to help if (when) it all goes wrong. There is very little risk from using a phone with bootloader unlocked, and little to be gained be re-locking, even if you could make it work on a Sony device

Is the weather bad on your island? I don’t need your advice or your help, nor do I need your theories, and I don’t believe what’s written on some random website—when reality and facts tell a different story.

Facts

YAAP A16 was installed on my pdx206, and the bootloader was locked again before I installed iodéOS for testing purposes.

I unlocked the YAAP pdx206 bootloader as usual using fastboot oem unlock 0x[unlock-code]. After that, I installed iodéOS 7.3, followed by an 7.4 OTA update and a 7.4 Local update.

XAAP A16 20260402 is now installed again and the bootloader is once again locked using avb_custom_key.img by dev @ahnet

@petefoth, do it yourself – and the falsehood of the story will become clear.

There is no need to be unfriendly to people who are volunteering and helping others.

Pete just spoke some words of caution - you don’t have to listen to his advice, but others, less experienced, may value his thoughts.

I have every reason to. Pete stalks me every time I post here.

The same process was followed for px203. Thanks, dev @ahnet

YAAP Bootloader Locking Guide for Xperia 1/5 II

My apologies: as this is a community forum for iodéOS, I read your post to mean that you were planning to relock the bootloader using that avb-customhkey.img with iodéOS installed . That is what I was advising against, and I stand by that advice (to other users at least: you have no need of my help or advice. Though thanks for buying me coffee for building the iodéOS ROM and with @rik’s help, getting OTA updates to work). And the ‘random website’ I quoted from is Sony’s (you know, the manufacturers of this and other devices) official Open Devices Programme.

For users of iodéOS on Sony devices, please do not try to relock your bootloader after flashing iodéOS. If you really want a ROM where you can relock the bootloader, follow the links to the ROM iodysseus is using, and try that. Any problems you hit will surely be handled by that ROM’s support channel(s).

Not every time: only when I believe you to be wrong  And since you don’t need my help or advice, this forum offers a useful ‘mute’ feature so you need never see any of my posts again

Goodbye.

PS the weather is lovely here at the moment: thanks for asking!

These coffees are a token of appreciation for the time, effort, and skill of those who build ROMs or GSIs. For that, I thank everyone who does this, regardless of my personal opinion of them.

@petefoth, muting them is out of the question, because then I wouldn’t get to read any more nonsense that I can refute with verifiable facts.
