The iodé News app told me about the availability of a 7.3 update, but when I check for updates in System Updates I see the message, “The update check failed. Please check your internet connection and try again later.” This is on a Pixel 4a already running v7.2.
Does the issue remain? If so then there have been other similar reports (Shiftphone 8, etc) that I haven’t quite sorted out yet to see if it is a problem on the iodé side or not.
First, let’s reset the “Updater” app to see if it solves the issue:
Please ensure that any local updates are removed: “Long press Updater app icon > App Info > 3 dots > Uninstall Updates”. Then also clear storage from “App Info > Storage & cache > Clear Storage”. Then restart the app and use the “circle arrow” in the middle top to refresh the available update list.
If after that the issue is still there I will try to get more feedback from the developers.
Yep, issue remains after that.
Last checked date changed to January 1, 1970 after removing data. Date is not changing when checking for an update, if that’s any help

I ended up manually downloading the 7.3 ota installer, which naturally worked.
The Updater app continues to be unable actually to check for updates, still showing the same “The update check failed. Please check your internet connection and try again later” message.

No 3-dot menu is available in App Info. It’s available from within the app itself, though. I see no “Uninstall updates” option in that menu, anyway.
Then also clear storage from “App Info > Storage & cache > Clear Storage”. Then restart the app and use the “circle arrow” in the middle top to refresh the available update list.
After doing that update check still fails, and like @lukasiod I also see, “Last checked: January 1, 1970 (01:00)”.

You can try this. Go to Updater → App info → Wi-Fi data usage, disable ‘Allow network access’, then reenable it.

Ok, the simplest explanation was the best : the json update files where not accessible for flame and sunfish already on v7. It should be fixed !

I confirm update check on sunfish now succeeds.

otter (Shiftphone) seems to be working too, at least the download is running as we speak.
