Another problem persists with Spotify though. I can log in the Spotify kids app and my child listens to some music there with no other problems but the awful nature of that app. That’s why I set up a child account a couple of weeks ago. User flow: Logging in with my parental account and adding a childs account in that app. Unfortunately I get logged out after a few hours again and again to a point where I resorted to the Spotify kids app, which is a pain. - Would be happy to try this new feature out before leaving Spotify altogether (long overdue).
In (your) spotify you are getting logged out (of the Spotify app), or on the child device with the Spotify Kids app that one gets logged out?
Or instead maybe you are saying in your Spotify app the association with the kid’s account is lost?
Or other? I may be missing the whole point here
I did move away from Spotify to Qobuz for my family a few months back. Lots of “pros” but some things not so great, and I don’t think there would be good parental features.
For using “normal Spotify” or Qobuz etc, one “hacky stop gap option” may be to download music for your child, then set the app to “offline mode”, then in App Info disable network access for the app. To add more music, you enable network for App Info, go in download more, then again disable network.
Of course if your child is of a certain age or higher they can go in and do this themselves but I suspect you are referring to a younger child?
He @rik thanks again for reaching out, here’s what I am doing:
Logging in to the regular Spotify app and switching to a kids account there aka logging in the child. After some time the app shows the login screen again.
NOT Spotify kids, that is working as bad as always. Was pretty happy when learning about the new feature of the standard Spotify app since kids app needs shared playlists. Spotify w kids account is also a pain in the ace though, lots of empty albums. Will look into qobuz and deezer anyways…
Looking forward learning more about iodeOS, like how to get some parental controls like Digital Wellbeing or Apple Screentime.
