Sony Xperia XA2 no sound through the speakers

Short Description:

Sorry, im a little bit confused, my Xperia XA2 doesn’t play via the loudspeakers, videos are not played, audiofiles nothing…

I use it as secondary device an tried to watch videos with youtube or listen to podcasts with antennapod. It does not play at all (video too) until I connect a bluetooth ear speaker, The internal speaker seems to work, ring tones and alarm clock works.

it’s a fresh installation, so the issue is there from the beginning of my experience with that device and iodéOS

Found the same issue here in 2022 without a solution.

Sorry, I don’t have XA2. I used to have 2 x XZ2 Compact, but one died while my wife was using it as her daily driver, so she is now using the second as her daily driver, so I don’t have access for debugging.

I flashed an XA2 with 6.17 a couple of weeks ago using the iode auto installer without any issues. Tested ok at the time and the buyer hasn’t reported any problems since. Also did an XA2 Ultra (manual install), around the same time and that’s also working ok and is still with me here on the desk.

The XA2 has been the most popular phone I have sold and must have flashed over 40 of them to date but it’s not a problem I have come across so far, so I’m at a bit of a loss. It’s interesting that it appeared back in 2022 and then reappears 4 years later I have to admit but having said that the fact that it has only surfaced a couple of times and was associated with a fresh install on both occasions makes me wonder as to whether the fault lies with the firmware.

Only thing I can suggest is to return it to stock android using EMMA or Newflasher if only to see as to whether the fault is still present, if it is then it’s obviously related to the phone itself, if it isn’t then there’s always the possibility of a reinstall solving the problem.

If you use EMMA check to make sure that it’s not offering you Android 8. The last time I used EMMA for XA2 it reinstalled a9 but it’s one of those things you need to be sure of as I recently flashed an Xp’ 5 and it put it back to a10 (I wasn’t aware that the Xp 5 ever had a10), so ended up having to go to Newflasher to get a11.

Hi, thanks for your input, I flashed the device recently with EMMA Tool. On device there is the version 50.2.A.0.400.

So it is an Android 9.

Before flashing with EMMA-Tool I had a Sailfish OS on the device.

I had big problems with OTA upgrades in iodéOS recently.

But this that’s another work in progress.

I will try a fresh flash next time when a new OS version is out and tell you.

Btw it’s an 4113 model with 32 GB internal flash storage

Version 50.2.A.0.400 is fine.

My XA2 H3113 is running iodéOS version 6.17-20260720-pioneer without any issues, and the updater is currently offering me iodéOS 6.18. I installed it, and after a quick check, everything seems to be working, including the audio.
32GB is normal, and 4113 is identical to 3113. There’s no difference in the OS.
I’d reset the device using EMMA and then flash iodéOS version 6.18.

Hi, I made a reflash with emma tools (version 50.2.A.0.400) - sound works as expected.

Made an iode OS flash with the official installer - sound works as expected - problem vanished.
