Sony XA2 Dual SIM H4113

Has anyone tried installing iode on a Dual SIM Sony XA2? Got one here but would rather just flip it with a locked bootloader if it’s known not to be supported or loses functionality by doing so.

With recent Sony devices, LineageOS ROMs usually have a single ROM image both single- and dual-SIM variants. The LineageOS information page for this device says that their ROM supports this model number. IodéOS is built on LineageOS, so their ROM should also support it.

Well, there were massive problems with version 6 in the forum a few months ago. Until then, Iode was a good operating system for the XA2. But you can’t close the bootloader again.
Iode itself has not commented much on this, nor has it yet said whether there is a working version 6. This is service…

Thanks for the heads up @petefoth . I will give it a try and report back. Worst that could happen is that only one of the SIM cards work, at least that’s what I’m hoping.

I’m aware of the v6.0 wi-fi bug. The XA2 is still on the LOS supported devices list so I’m just hoping it stays there when the next version comes along and a fix for iode can be found. Although It must be in the LOS grey area for continued support by now I would have thought.

Which appears to be fixed in v6.4 (at least for XZ2 Compact, which shares the same hardware platform, and suffered from the same WiFi bug in v6.0-v6.2)

That is true for all Sony devices, and really is not a problem worth worrying about: see here and here

Also with Kirin I found when I downloaded your 6.4 version for an Xperia 10 I sold last week. Nice work for which I’m grateful as it’s the only phone I can currently offer with iode 6.x Do you think there is any chance of the XA2 being reprieved come the release of LOS 23.0?

That depends on the maintainer of the LineageOS ROM. Is there any reason to think that LineageOS will drop support for this device and the others based on the Sony ‘tama’ hardware platform?

After my XA2 was affected by 6.0, there was another update that completely destroyed the XA2. Now I need either the installer or the files for manual installation if 6.4 should work, where can I find them?

I dunno TBH. XZ1 has already been removed from the supported list despite having a better hardware specification. Maybe it’s decided by the number of downloads and /or OTA updates. One thing I can say from practical experience is the XA2 is the easiest sell of all the XA and XZ models for sure. People even seem to prefer it over the XA3 (Xp’ 10) despite the lower spec’. So far sold 13 iode XA2’s but only 6 XA3’s. Ultra’s also do well (5 sold so far) but they are difficult to find in ‘cared for’ condition at a reasonable price. I only buy nice handsets in for resale. The demo phone’ has only been out 6 times and one time it didn’t get returned. Not sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing TBH. The deposit (£35) covered the cost so no loss, but going off the number of hits it gets, I’m fairly certain that it is boosting the sales. Zero returns so far so that has to be a good sign.

I have been offered some new XA2’s for £45 a piece which is not much more than I pay for second user ones in cared for condition. So I’ve ordered some in to see how it works out.
