Shift8 Single-Tap already activates screen

Turning on:

I’m a big fan of the feature to use a double-tap on the inactive screen to turn the screen on. On the shift8 however a single tap already activates it. That makes the function pretty useless because the screen turns on pratically every time you pick up the phone. On my old Galaxy S10 that feature works reliably.

Turning off:

Double clicking the unexpanded notification bar turns the screen off. That does work. But because that phone is so huge I often use the handed mode where you click a permanent button to temporarily shrink the drawing area to the lower half. When you double tap the notification bar in this state it doesn’t turn off (only when you also pull down the notification area).

This is a known implementation limitation of the display Hardware. Someone stated this in the official Shift forum.

I agree: whoever decided to implement a single tap to wakeup in the display Hardware heavily missed the Main reason for that feature: prevent accidential wakeups.

Double tap has to be implemented as a Software feature but progress is slowly as far as I understood.
