September 5, 2025 security patch for GSI, how to safely update?

Device: Motorola moto g stylus 5G 2023 XT2315-1 RETUS

I just received a notice that an update is available for the iodeOS GSI.

I am currently running this version: iode-5.14-20250622-arm64_ab.img.xz

The update is this version: iode-5.16-20250901-arm64_ab.img.xz

In my ‘Settings->System->System updates’ it states:
System update available

Android version: 14
GSI variant: lineage_arm64_ab
Security patch: June 1, 2025

Update version: 5.16
Download size: 1.1GB

            Download and install

Can I safely update using the ‘Download and install’ function?

In other words: How do I safely apply the update?

As no one has replied (yet), my advice is that it should be fine to apply with the System Updater. The a/b partition scheme means that any failed update would then revert back to the original partition.
