A few days ago, my wife’s Samsung Galaxy S9+ DUOS received the update to version 4.29. Since then, she has been unable to make or receive calls. Mobile data is working.
I also had a Galaxy Note 9 here and installed version 4.29. The same problem occurred: there is a connection, but no calls are possible.
It’s not the SIM card, as I was able to verify with another phone (stock ROM), where it works perfectly.
Does anyone know what the problem is? Does anyone know how to fix it? Thank you.
Well, I found out myself, partially. VoLTE is not available on AOSP (and derivates) on Samsung devices. Although our provider has allegedly switched of 3G in June 2025, the phone continued working flawlessli until late December 2025. But now it seems, without a VoLTE capable phone there is no way anymore for making/receiving calls (Switzerland).
Yes, sadly this is likely the situation you are facing. 3G is not typically an “all at once” thing but takes time to roll out across the network.
