Samsung Galaxy A7 Tab SM-T225 (8.7") on Android 14 GSI

Hey Folks,

Referring: iode-5.18-20251102-arm64_ab.img.xz - GSI [ gsi · master · ota / release · GitLab ]

It does run on my SM-T225, except the calling function. It is T-Mobile and the location is Germany.

So far, the internet works via LTE and Wi-Fi, and text messages are also coming through. But I can’t make phone calls.

There’s no dial tone and the tablet responds slowly when I try to activate the speakerphone function or hang up.

Sometimes a call comes through, but I can’t hear anything and the person I’m calling can’t hear me either, except for a few short sounds now and then.

Anything else seems to work so far. I was using ist with the previous Version 5.17 for months.

Does somebody have any idea how to fix?

Thanks in advance

Sorry to bring bad news, but Samsung has blocked 3rd party ROMs from being able to register IMS meaning VoLTE (or “4G voice calls”) are now not possible :frowning: . In the USA we haven’t had 3G cellular service for a few years now, but if you still have 3G towers in your location you could adjust your network preferences to be “3G only” as a stop gap.

I am bit confused how it was working for your recently, I thought this inability for Samsung devices to use VoLTE has been for some months now. Maybe the GSI builds are still able to register VoLTE, or maybe you are using 3G for voice calls already?

You can dial *#*#4636#*#* and then go to “Phone Information > 3 dots > IMS Service Status” to check what is registered.

Oh, I’m afraid there may have been a misunderstanding in how I phrased it.

In version 5.17, phone calls didn’t work either (after PHH Treble settings, but at first please read below).

I’ll try to break it down more precisely:

First, version 5.17 was installed on the tablet. In the default setting, phone calls worked, but I don’t know whether it was via LTE or 3G. However, I had the problem that my headphone jack (3.5 mm) did not respond when I plugged in headphones and the speakers did not stop playing when I plugged in headphones.

Then someone gave me the tip to activate the following functions in the PHHTreble settings to solve the problem with the headphones:

· Under “Samsung Features”:

  • Enable audio stereo mode

  • Enable extra sound

· Under “misc features”:

  • Use alternate way to detect headset

  • Disable audio effects

  • Forced-disable A2DP offload (this option was never available in the menu)

This resulted in the headphones working perfectly and the speakers switching off automatically, but since then I have not been able to make phone calls.

So I tried installing AOSP 14 instead of iodeOS. The same problem occurred there too. Immediately after installation, I was able to make phone calls, but the headphone issue remained the same after activating the PHH Treble Settings as described above.

Now I’m back to iode OS, but I couldn’t even make calls in the default configuration (without using the PHH Treble settings). Then I first updated to version 5.18, which was released a few days ago.

The results of the IMS-Service status are: anything(!) is “not registred”

I hope there will be a solution. I don´t even understand why my Galaxy Note10+ 5G with Lineage OS works perfectly and the A7 lite won´t!?
