Hello, I switched to iodé 5.3 and microphone volume was OK as far as I remember. But then after the next update it was very quiet. It seemed that a way to temporarily fix it was makings a call and then plugging a cable headset in and out.
Now after another update, microphone volume is still very low. The built-in recorder app makes recordings in which I can barely hear myself, even though speaking quite loud.
Is there some app to see or/and to set microphone level?
(it’s just not so useful to have a phone that has a microphone that is so quiet)
Same here. Seems like an issue of the noise-canceling system of Samsung.
well, I am a step further: reading about the problem on the xda devs. forum I found that Google Assistant was often mentioned. Removing its permission for microphone access somehow would solve the problem.
I didn’t think this would apply to me since I don’t have it installed. But I removed some other apps from microphone permissions, and now a test call to myself worked flawlessly. I still will need to find out which app has caused this…
well, another step further: it still seems that microphone level is very low while at the same time speaker level is shoutingly high while on calls. Speakerphone does solve this, but cannot be used at most places, to be honest.
I wonder if there is any place I could set this ‘back’ to the out-of-the-box setting in order so see if I had changed something there.
unfortunately in Android 14 there is no option to reset settings to default in the configuration.
So, unless you have the defaults memorized only option is to factory reset.
You could try resetting the app settings:
Settings > System > reset options > reset app preferences
