Is there a way to Root the Brax3 or give a file manager app Super User/Root access? There are times for one app I need to access the app/data because I have an app is older and can’t access the home documents folder anymore (older versions of Android it could). If I could root and then remove root after giving the file manager such access that would be fine. Or not even root at all if there is a way to give the file manager such access. Either way would be fine. I don’t need root all the time, but if that is the only way it is possible, that is fine too.
There are other more powerful file manager apps that may do what you need. But regarding rooting we don’t officially endorse ways to do it. Other users may comment on that but we won’t give official replies on those topics.
You could also ask on the Brax forum, https://community.braxtech.net
What is the older app you are attempting to get to work by the way? Maybe there are alternative solutions for it.
I see, didn’t think it was a ‘no no’ topic here. I have asked on Brax forum but little movement in that regard (they don’t seem to know as of yet it seems) and thought that here might know more.
As for what older app … yWriter. The newer versions don’t work due to some parts of the split apk are incompatible with the Brax3. While the older one runs fine, it can’t access anything but its own app/data folder. If I could put the project I am working on in the app/data folder instead of say documents that would solve the problem. As for alternatives, yes I could write with something else but then that would involve converting back and forth between mobile and desktop all the time and this app is to save me from that.
Sorry I probably spoke too strongly, of course you are free to do what you want with your device! But we can’t offiically support it as there are just too many rabbit trails and caveats and we don’t have capacity for it.
Certainly many do root for all sorts of valid reasons.
At least under Android 15 / iodé 6.12 I can still access Android/data and its subdirectories with the native file manager. No need to root. It just doesn’t work with any other file manager app.
Don’t know if this is still possible under Android 16 / iodé 7.x
Yes this is true for Android 16 base as well. This is part of your userdata not part of the read-only system so it is all viewable (and editable). The apps are contained to only be able to write / read to their data folder, but you as the user have access to it also of course.
