Hi,
I just got an update for microG which promted to select a new location service.
(presumabely because of Mozilla Location Service shutting down?)
A quick search of the recommended one, positon.xyz, reavealed some privacy concerns.
what is the iodeOS recommendation on this?
thanks

The author of the article you linked is not the most unbiased commentator. He has a serious grudge against /e/ and Murena and anyone connected with them. I usually find that his attacks on others can usually be safely disregarded
I would rely on BeaconDB as long as it works.
What is described in the article is nothing wrong and nothing new.
A halfway sensible person should keep their hands off murena and /e/OS and everything connected with it.

Without wanting to go round in circles.
The linked GOS article describes everything and gets to the heart of the matter. You can also read about it at DOS.
thanks for your input!
Just like @AlphaElwedritsch, I’ve heared bad things about /e/ as well. But as @petefoth pointed out, the source for this particular incident is not exactly impartial.
I’ll stick with BeaconDB for now
No evidence presented in that article, just generalised statements about 'developers tied to /e/OS,
The people involved in Positon`.
If you mean DivestOS, searching site:divestos.org positon
or site:divestos.org murena
comes up with no hits, and nothng obvious on that site saying anything abut why
A halfway sensible person should keep their hands off murena and /e/OS
Please link to specific docs on divest.org or elsewhere (except GrapheneOS whose maintainer clearly has a personal axe to grind with /e/OS)

@Privateer
It sounds like actual slander to me, but I’m not an attorney.
I’m not sure if this is relevant to this thread or not but on the XA2, if I go to Settings> Location>Learn more about location settings it takes me to… support.google .com /android/answer/3467281
