Pixel 8a and Android 16

Hello all,

I have a Pixel 8a with Android 16 here. As far as I know IodeOS for the device is still on Android 15. Can I just install IodeOS over it or do I have to downgrade the device to Android 15 before I flash IodeOS?

Or… just wait for a while. Pixel 8a has 3 weekly builds of Lineage23. So Iodé7 (A16) is coming.

Thanks for your answer. Is it foreseeable when it will happen? I mean: In a few weeks or one year?

Dont know. Maybe around new year. At least; that is my hope for my pixel 9a.

I dont see a 7beta right now on ota / betas · GitLab

iodé 7 is being actively worked on, stay tuned! (no more specifics yet).

But to answer your first question, yes you should downgrade to Android 15 before flashing iodé 6.x. An upgrade to iodé 7 would the come “OTA” when it is released.

Thanks for your reply. I am just on the way downgrading the device.

Hmmm, just tried it several times to downgrade from 16 to 15. Flash.android.com says always

Flash Failed
Bytes sent does not match content length. Expected 3296194721, got 3368016546

The donwloaded build is bigger than it should be.

I am using this build:

BP1A.250505.005.B1 (13277630)
akita-user (signed) | 15.0.0 (Android 15) | API level 35

Any ideas?

When I try to flash an older version of Android 15 (e.g. BP11.241210.004 (12926906), flash-android.com says:

Flash Failed
The build you are flashing is no longer compatible with your device due to anti-rollback protection. Your device is running a bootloader with an incremented anti-rollback version to prevent previous vulnerable versions of the bootloader from being flashed on the device.

Finally it worked: I got the right download size of the build, could downgrade to Android 15 and install via the web installer iodeos 6.9.

The web installer worked perfect! Thanks for the good work.

Good to hear and glad it went smoothly using the graphical installer! So was the difficulty in getting the right download size due to network instability or other?

I was not able to figure this out but I think so.
