Phone App Suggestion - Alternative

I find the resident phone app cumbersome. I’ve disconnected more calls in the short time I’ve been using iodeOS than I have in the last 10 years.

I humbly make the following suggestion:

Instead of having: Contacts - Favorites - Call History as the working buttons when the app is open.

Replace the foregoing with: Keypad - Recents - Contacts with the dial pad as the center of the screen. In the upper right corner put a magnifying glass that will default to search contacts. Next to the glass in a menu the following three (3) options: Speed Dial Numbers - Open to Keypad - Speed Dial Numbers.

Additionally, it would be nice to have the ability to assign speed dial numbers into the two digit range.

I’m taking these cues from my now defunct Samsung S10 (yeah, I know old.)

The functionality of the S10 layout is straightforward, simple and keeps the more important bits accessible. Nearly zero dropped calls because of cumbersome layout.

Last thought, the current app seems to disappear. I was on a call with my mom, hit something and then couldn’t disconnect the call. I ended up rebooting the phone to disconnect because I couldn’t get the app to show itself.

Thanks for the consideration.

The android standard dialer com.android.dialer is preinstalled in iodéOS. This means that the design will not change unless you contact the Android developers directly (previously, the app had exactly the design you wanted). If you would like a different design, search F-Droid, Accrescent, or the Google Play Store for an app that supports your desired layout. You may find the layout you want with Fossify Phone.

Thanks for your insights. I will look into the suggestion(s). Wish they’d have left it as it was or at least have a legacy version available.

Have a great week.
