Originally the 7.5 announcement was released for all devices, rather than just for those on the 7.x series. The filter was later correctly applied. I am not sure if this caused the issue or not, but I can’t reproduce the problem you are seeing? If nothing else, you can “clear storage” from AppInfo for it to clean it up and check again.
That was the first thing I did. It doesn’t help. Only uninstalling and installing v2.0.2. The update came from the iodé F-Droid repo.
Any news about this issue?
I haven’t heard of others reporting it. I thought your above message meant it was resolved by removal and install (using Preinstalled Apps I had assumed)?
I had iodeOS 6.14 with News 2.0.2 on my device when the update to News 2.0.4 came via F-Droid. After clearing data did not help I uninstalled News and installed 2.0.3 via F-Droid - same issue. Only reverting to 2.0.2 via F-Droid solved the issue.
Meanwhile I updated iodeOS to v6.15 (still News v2.0.2). Also replacing the version installed via F-Droid by preinstalled apps keeps v2.0.2. So I wonder what the updates to v2.0.3 and v2.0.4 in F-Droid are for? You talked about iodeOS 7.x. Are the new versions not compatible with iodeOS 6.x?
I guess that there are not many users who use iodeOS on a Shiftphone 6mq. Perhaps those who do did not update News via F-Droid.
Well honestly I am a bit confused. I have F-Droid set to auto-install updates so my v6.x and v7.x devices are all on News app v2.0.5 (released 5 June). So you don’t see that version available?
Maybe you are not on our F-Droid but instead upstream? I can NOT uninstall it from F-Droid, for example. You need to use “Preinstalled Apps” to uninstall default iodéOS apps instead.
It is simple. I uninstalled the not working News app v2.0.4 via preinstalled apps and then installed v2.0.3 from the iodé F-Droid repo. That didn’t work either. Uninstalled v2.0.3 and installed v2.0.2 which works.
Meanwhile I updated to v2.0.5 from F-Droid which doesn’t work either. Uninstalled it and reverted to v2.0.2. Both ways, from F-Droid and preinstalled apps, work. (The latest iodeOS v6.15 still installs v2.0.2 from preinstalled apps.)
So v2.0.2 works, all following versions show the error.
Your devs should have got a SHIFT6mq from Shiftphone. Maybe they can reproduce the issue.
