Good evening,
I am discovering iode/os and will soon have my new phone. I was previously on /e/OS.
Regarding syncing contacts with the cloud, is it necessary to install DAVx5 first?
But what should I do if the contacts are already in the cloud because they were synced with my old device? Thanks
Go to the contact app, hamburger menu, export contacts. Take the contacts via usb from your old phone. And than the same reverse to the new phone. Or use my phone explorer on a pc.
All whithout a cloud. Datas in the hand of a person you dont know.
OK, in fact you propose an export/import from the old phone to the new one. It’s a good way.
But iodé accepts synchronization with my own cloud. I have a cloud with a small provider (ZACLYS).
It’s completely different from GAFA.
But I’m not sure if I need to configure DAVx5 first so that the Contact app is linked
Thanks
If you use Seedvault (which I advise to), the contacts will be in your Seedvault-Backup.
OK, both of you prefers that the contacts are managed only on the phone.
A backup using Seedvault is a wise avise
Thanks
Yes, if you do want to synchronize with Nextcloud or other providers using standard “CardDav” (contact) and “CalDav” (Calendar), you first install DAVx5. /e/OS has their “light fork” of DAVx5 integrated, but this is up to you to add (or not) in iodéOS.
To address other bits of the Murena cloud service, if you want to sync nextcloud documents, then you can install the Nextcloud app.
By the way, I recognize you from the /e/ forums, I came over here from there as well: welcome!
Thank you, I don’t want to complicate things, and if DAVx5 isn’t essential with iodé/OS, I’ll leave things as they are as much as possible.
I no longer have anything on the Murena cloud, but I have documents on a “CHATON” cloud called ZACLYS.
With Next-Cloud, I can view them from my phone, which is sometimes useful.
I don’t know yet whether I’m going to keep all my contacts synchronized with my cloud, Zaclys, or just back up the data. That’s the most important thing.
Yesterday, I received my refurbished Google Pixel 7 with IODE. The hardware is in very good condition.
Have a nice day.
