Thanks to @petefoth assisting in generating an unofficial build for bonito (Google Pixel 3a XL) I am now running iodéOS for the first time after using /e/OS and lineageos4microg for the past 3 years.
One minor issue is that the iodé app keeps complaining about Trebuchet, giving very frequent notification saying Connections to malicious recipients: blocked: 0. Upon clicking the notification, this message appears:
Inactive application: This application has never accessed the network, and therefore remains unknown for the iodé app
Well, yes I get that Trebuchet is not accessing the internet and thus isn’t “known”, but the persistently repeating notification seems misplaced. Is there a way to whitelist Trebuchet so that the iodé app is not inspecting it? Or other advice?
Thanks for an excellent experience and direction so far. The first yes! yes! moment was seeing that iodé browser is Firefox based. Thank you!
Maybe the notifications are coming from newly installed apps that have not been categorized by me. I notice the turquoise wrench icon next to each new app. So this may be expected behavior, as you may notice I am new to iodéOS.
I will leave this open in case more experienced users would like to comment for a bit but I think this is solved.
Well I will keep this marked as “unsolved” because Trebuchet is still getting a near-continuous notification indicating “Trebuchet Connections to malicious recipients: blocked: 0”
Is this typical as the notification always shows for the current running app, and Trebuchet is the launcher so is basically always running?
if you’re referring to the silent notification, it is a feature of iodéOS, the philosophy is to be able to know at all times if any apps running on the device are connecting to trackers.
I have Trebuchet showing on the drop-down menu all the time on my daily driver Samsung Note 9 since I installed Iode a few months ago. It also shows an icon constantly on the left top corner. On the other hand, I have another S.Note9 with Iode and it doesn’t show Trebuchet on the drop-down menu nor the icon. However, I haven’t used that device at all because I got it as a spare phone, but for what I’ve read looking for a solution to this problem, it looks like Trebuchet is not annoying all Iode users, only a few of us.
I have notifications for Trebuchet dissabled but it keeps showing. Apparently it has never been used (it says “inactive application”). I’ve read it is a launcher but this thing is trying to track other apps behaviour although it says always “Blocked connections: 0”. I just want it to stop showing notifications.
For those that like me removed the Iode icon from the homescreen and forgot about it:
Iode icon = Iode app blocker.
So, open the app, go to settings/general settings/notifications.
It must be done from there, it doesn’t allow it from the Apps or Notifications menu.
As mentioned, you can disable notifications in the iodé settings. The reason Trebuchet persistently shows is that it is the launcher meaning it is the active app when nothing else has focus.
Hi rik,
That is correct, but again, to avoid confusion to other users with the same issue, you refer to the Iode app settings (that is the Iode app blocker), not the Iode Android system settings (permissions and apps managers).
