MicroG: Missing Google Integrity Check

Hello to the forum,
I am diabetic and need to use a special app to control my insuline pump (“CamAPS FX”). This app can be installed via Aurora, but it doesn’t work as intended. The app tells me that my phone (“Fairphone 5”) failed the integrity check and recommends that I should check my interet connection and install the newest version of the Google Play Store.
I contacted the manufacturer of “CamAPS FX” and they told me that they use the Google Integrity Check mechanisms to check if the app was installed properly, without modification and from the original Google Play Store.
I wanted to address this issue to implement the Google Integrity Check mechanisms on the MicroG’s github, but I don’t now which of the 34 braches is used by iodéOS.
Can somebody help me? I don’t want to fall back into “Google-contaminated” times…
Regards

Hi, I tried this app on FP5, iodéOS 5.6. I made a registration, selected virtual pump, … everything worked as intended. Even more, it also worked after having disabled safety net and play licensing in microG settings…

Hi Vince,
thanks for info. I’ll try your settings :grinning:

Hi Vince,
I tried as you described. But when I tried to use my pump and my blood gucose sensor, the app doesn’t work.
I cannot connect to both devices.
So I think it’s mandatory that “CamAPS FX” passes the Google Integrity Check - as stated by the manufaturer…
What message do you get if you hit the “Check Integrity” menu item in the “Help” menu?

Hi @KlausStoertebeker and @vince31fr ,
I’m facing the same issue with this app.

In fact @vince31fr everything is ok until the app tries to connect to the blood sensor.
Only at this time, device integrity is checked, and failed.

@KlausStoertebeker did you find any solution?

This is the microG issue thread from @KlausStoertebeker (with a result being that iodéOS would need to “support Keybox import functionality”):

But if you then follow to link they provide in the first post there, it mentions this:

CRITICAL: Before using this method, make sure to disable all spoofing options related to Play Integrity Fix.
Any active spoofing (device props, fingerprints, etc.) will interfere with the keybox import and cause integrity checks to fail.

I am not certain if disabling spoofing in the microG settings is adequate for this, or instead if this is not possible with iodéOS. We may need to wait for any reply from Vincent.

Broadly speaking, this microG issue is a good discussion on why the apps that test passing Play Integrity are failing now. It seems that it is possible that to pass your device needs to be logged into a Google Account and the official Google app to check passing needs to be obtained from the Google Play Store itself (not from Aurora or any side-loaded approach?).

It is not clear if a “fully Google’d phone not logged into a Google account would pass or not”. It really is complicated, but again near the end either root and/or an alternate Keybox method (see above) are needed.

Well, I’m quite lost.
Even on a brand new refurbished phone (Samsung S20 FE, with samsung stock Android 13), with active google account, it fails….

App can be used with two king of sensors:

  • Abbot libre 3, the one I got,
  • Dexcom G6.

Will try tomorrow I can get the second one in drugstore.

Knowing that, if there is any way to hopefully use a different sensor (maybe this means a different app?) it can pass. But using the “fully Google’d Samsung” device and not passing seems to be a credible complaint to bring to your health provider to see if there is any alternative.

New sensor (Descom 6 instead of Libre 3) is ok. Connexion is established, and We could get glucose data.

But, even if pairing with insuline pump is established, later in app, its fails.

I tried to deactivate all filters in Trebuchet, without any success.
I even force stop Trebuchet.

Phone call with support, even if the guy seems enthousiasm with degoogled ROM, doesn’t help.

In pump manual, this message is documented.

Is there any possibility that iodeOS still filter some internet access?

Trebuchet is your launcher (Homescreen + status bar + …). Your blocker is the iodé-Blocker, in settings and Trebuchet shown as „iodé“.
Btw.: You shouldn’t force-close the launcher, as this could cause the phone to reboot if things go wrong.

Check the iode blocker, if something is blocked. Blue is blocked.
