Hi. After 6.7 update on iodeOS, on my Pixel 5 (Redfin), the email app K-9 Mail stopped to work. Whenever I am trying to open mentioned app, it just crashes over and over again. I tried to clear the flash memory within app itself, but it didn’t work. Also the Trebuchet was set for K-9 Mail app to Activate, but nothing changed - app still crashes. What is even more strange, the K-9 Mail somehow still functions in the background, because it shows notifications of incomming mail, but after tapping on the notification, the app itself still fails to open .
Is there any solution for it? Thanks for any help. P
I had a similar Problem on a S10+. Solution for me was to use Thunderbird, which was installed. TB has imported all settings from K9 (they are the same with different icons)
Ok, thanks for the tip. Thunderbird is build on top of K-9 so they sholud be compatible. But I do not like interface of TB on my PC, so I like to stick to K-9.
BTW, the problem was already solved by the creators of K-9- The new update of the app - version 12.1 on F-Droid solved the crashing of the app.
I didn’t follow closely the past months, but I thought I understood that Thunderbird is K-9, just with the name change. Thunderbird now supports the dev, but the interface and features are K-9.
(BTW for desktop, Thunderbird has some various interface changes over the past few years, out of scope for this forum)
Well, I do not know either. On Android, I use (and prefer) only K-9. Already used to it and didnt have any reasons to try different. On the PC with Linux, that is another story. TB I have on the PC is not user friendly. At least not for me. Its interface is sort of dated and lot of settings need more than normal skill set. For examle such easy thing like editing signature connected to any email, you have to use HTML programing to use bold text or force text to skip on another line on the page.
That is true. At the moment the UI of TB for Android and K-9 is the same.
I did find a discussion on a Mozilla forum clarifying that only the syncing / sharing of accounts between desktop and mobile are added to Thunderbird (Android). I am confused why they just released an updated K-9 build if that is the case, but I guess some don’t want anything to do with the name change.
