Affected App(s): Split screen with Brave / Iodé Browser / Chrome (possibly more, those are the only ones tested with)
Short Description:
When using split screen and when entering full mode in a youtube video through a browser for example, the video doesn’t scale properly, depending on the division of the split screen. It’s either too small with black banners on each side, or too big and parts of the video is cropped off. If entering full mode on a vertical view, when turning the device horizontally the video will rotate but not properly resize using the entire screen.
When entering an app (by tapping on its icon) after it was used in a split screen, sometimes the app will grey out the area that was dedicated for the other app in the split screen. This greyed out area then becomes unusable and only returning to the split screen and expanding the app fixes the issue.
Sometimes while using a split screen, the screen does not react to touch anymore. Only locking and unlocking the phone can bring back a regular interaction with the screen. This seems to happen randomly (I don’t have steps to recreate beside using split screen regularly) but does happen almost daily.
Right, that makes sense. Although I don’t have LineageOS installed and can’t really report an issue on their Github without being a user. Not sure where else is a good place to share those issues.
You are right that formally reporting an issue is a bit challenging at LineageOS. Separate reports per device and build mean any broad non-device specific issues are not very welcome (and if you attempt to comment on an identical problem but originally reported for a different device it will be removed, for example). To me this means you may get 50 different reports all about the same bug but for 50 different devices. Even attempting to then “link” or “reference” between bugs that seem identical is not welcome and will be removed.
But to their defense, it is hard to know how to best and most effectively gather input and feedback from users, as the risk is that is so easy to get issues so unorganized that they are far from helpful for devs and they stop looking at the issue boards since they are so overloaded. So I don’t necessarily fault them for their approach, but it does make it a bit hard to collaborate to LOS. Our approach of centralizing issues here under our forum is also not perfect, and certainly some are not at all happy with it, but we are trying to have a single place (this forum) for discussions and issues to avoid duplication, etc., and then we can easily move or re-categorize posts. Note that I am still behind on keeping on top of this, I hope you can be patient with me
Anyway, back to LineageOS, I think the best is to either go to their Discord chat or to their Reddit, both of which are more free-form. You could ask if anyone can confirm the issues or not. Both are linked here: Community – LineageOS
