iodéOS compatible basic smartwatch?

Hi there! I am a new user and I have just got Iode working on a second-hand Fairphone 6. I have passed my Galaxy watch on to my husband, who is still in the Samsung ecosystem. I now need to get a smart watch that will connect via Gadgetbridge. Does anyone have any recommendations? I don’t need a lot of bells and whistles but I do need it to activate (or send) an emergency text with my location when I press a button on the watch.

I am having a look at the Gadgetbridge forum, but I thought I would ask here too. Thank you!

Anyone able to help give some feedback to @Chez? @petefoth I think you are a smartwatch user (Garmin?) Others?

(I think the issue will not be specific to the Fairphone, but is more broadly about iodéOS compatible smart watches. I am going to remove that tag as maybe it is causing some to not look at this thread?)

Yes I use a Garmin, and the proprietary Android Garmin Connect app, which ‘just works’ ™. I tried it (or its predecessor) with GadgetBrdge a couple of years back, and I seem to remember it worked OK but I didn’t use it for any length of time. And Garmin sport watches are very different beasts from the Galaxy and other smart watches. So I can’t be much help I’m afraid

EDIT: And I can’t really recommend the Garmin dpitts watches to @Chez: they are pretty specialist devices, not ‘generalist’ smart watches. I don’t know whether they support the required ‘Send emergency text’ functionality
