Iodé Xperia XZ1 ceased to recognize SIM card

Hello here,

Please what you’d do with a Sony Xperia XZ1 running iodé suddently being unable to read SIM cards?

  • bought this phone at iode.tech last July; worked fine till this month (updated to iodé 4.15 then 4.16)
  • SIM card (nano) works as expected in compatible smartphones
  • Xperia XZ1 works fine other than not detecting SIM cards (“Please insert a SIM card” – “Allo, it’s here”)
  • haven’t played whatsoever with the system (that’s the beauty of buying from iodé :star_struck:)
  • I informed support via the ‘Contact’ form on Oct. 19th but reaction so far.

PS Feel free to tell me which optional tags to add as I found none applicable.

Sounds like a hardware problem. Have you tried running a different custom ROM and seeing if you get the same problem?

Another alternative - and a possible fix - is explored in this article:

In reaction to @petefoth suggestion, whom I thank for it:
To be frank I’d like to learn how to reach iodé #support first, both in case of a hardware issue and to avoid risking prolonging / deepening the current issue. Please note I’m swimming in a particularly packed herd of (family, work, housing, bank, now phone) issues for some months

You can try in this Matrix room

Or this Telegram channel: (The two are linked, so no need to join both)

The FAQ page says you can report a problem (or just ask a question) in the issue tracker here:

But you need to be signed in to gitlab to do that. (I would raise an issue about that, but … )

Info and links much appreciated petefoth
Have read access to GitLab no problem, but their CloudFlare CAPTCHA won’t let me log-in (never has). I’ll have to try using another browser, or get into Matrix. In short, yet another (temporary) wall for me.

Also iodé has services in France where I bought the refurbished iodé from their online shopp. Legaly a return policy / a way to activate the warranty has to be displayed, on top on How to contribute.
Disclaimer: I perfectly understand they prefer to do what they’re best at – software & privacy/sec dev – but still.

EDIT: Their GitLab issues really are 100% focused on software. Asking about hardware, product support / warranty will be a real fly in the ointment → Issue #218.
