IODE password revealed in account?

Hello,
I’m new to iode and this forum.
I’ve just seen that my password to this forum is displayed out in the open when I click on my account picture. Why is that? This is the fist time I’m seeing such lack of security? Is it an error?

I’m not seeing that on my account… can you provide more detail?

but if you mean G… # under your account name… you entered the password in your profile under your name…

How is that possible? I would never do that. When I was creating the account it only asked me to set up pass and then repeat it. Ok, thanks! I’ll change it and try again.

and if it was your password… it’s not particularly good anyway… not to say bad
it only has an entropy of 36.

an interesting article about it…

in German though… but I think that’s OK for you

I’ll translate it and have a look. Thanks!
According to howsecureismypassword, “It would take a computer about 34 thousand years to crack your password”. I can cope with that
In terms of the iode community website that took my password and put it as a “display name”, that’s not good. There will be new users joining like me, who may not check (in time). I also waited a loong time (1-2 days) to receive the confirmation/validation email to join. That was also weird.

a 386sx maybe
no idea what went wrong for you… I’ve never seen it before.

have a nice evening

Do you use any password manager, by any chance? I only ask becasue I use Proton Pass, and sometimes it places content in wonky places. Just a thought…

Thanks, papercut. No, I do not use a centralised store of all my passwords. I do not trust anything centralized. I typed the pass myself in a box that asked me to set my password. That was it. I didn’t even know there was a handle AND a display name (that could be different).
